Six Tudor Queens: Jane Seymour, The Haunted Queen: Six Tudor Queens 3 | Alison Weir

'This brilliant book is a bombshell! Jane Seymour the shy mouse type? Think again!' Kate Williams Alison Weir, historian and author of the Sunday Times bestsellers Katherine of Aragon: The True Queen and Anne Boleyn: A King's Obsession, draws an enthralling portrait of Jane Seymour, Henry VIII's third queen, as you've never seen her before. Essential reading for fans of Philippa Gregory and Elizabeth Chadwick. 'This six-book series looks likely to become a landmark in historical fiction' The Times THE WOMAN HAUNTED BY THE FATE OF HER PREDECESSOR. Eleven days after the death of Anne Boleyn, Jane is dressing for her wedding to the King. She has witnessed at first hand how courtly play can quickly turn to danger and knows she must bear a son . . . or face ruin. This new Queen must therefore step out from the shadows cast by Katherine and Anne. In doing so, can she expose a gentler side to the brutal King? JANE SEYMOUR THE THIRD OF HENRY'S QUEENS HER STORY Acclaimed, bestselling historian Alison Weir draws on new research for her captivating novel, which paints a compelling portrait of Jane and casts fresh light on both traditional and modern perceptions of her. Jane was driven by the strength of her faith and a belief that she might do some good in a wicked world. History tells us how she died. This spellbinding novel explores the life she lived. SIX TUDOR QUEENS. SIX NOVELS. SIX YEARS. Readers love the SIX TUDOR QUEENS series: 'Alison Weir is such a good author I can hardly put it down' 'An extremely refreshing take on a very well-known period of history' 'Can't wait for the next one in the series' 'Weir really captures the essence of the people, I could envisage and understand all of them, this really is history brought to life'

Jane Seymour as such a short chapter in the Tudor Era, that it is hard to find many good novels written about her. But this much dramatized novel however feels spot on when it comes to historical fact. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and the narrator, Rosalyn Landor made it totally engrossing from start to finish.

Continuing my journey through the Six Tudor Queens series, and am still Tudor obsessed. I really wasn‘t into the “haunted” aspect, but it wasn‘t over done. The author consulted with present day medical practitioners and came up with a much more plausible (to me) cause of death for JS. I knew little about this queen and very much enjoyed this read. 3/5👑s (next up, my favorite Anne of Cleve!!!)

Crazeedi I've just started this, currently on Katharine of Aragon, and have the next on my shelf! 5y
Hestapleton Ooo stacking this! I‘ve been listening to the SIX musical on Spotify and now I‘m doing a book-related dive. As one does. 😂 5y

Very good. Enjoyed reading about a lesser known wife of Henry VIII. Explores her early life and her courtship with Henry. Well researched and written.

Shaneyney Are there books about each of his wives? 5y
Birdsong28 @Shaneyney Yes and ebooks in-between each one. It's a big series that she is doing the last to be released was the tagged book about his fourth wife 5y

Welll researched and written, the third in the Six Tudor Queens series. Jane Seymour is not the most exciting of Henry VIII‘s wives - she‘s a bit too demure and pious - but the author has done a great job of bringing her alive and filling in the gaps.

I‘m a big fan of Alison Weir‘s royal biographies, so I was excited to try her fiction.

True to form, Weir‘s writing and research is impeccable. I must admit, however, that I found it slow-going and a bit disjointed at first. It wasn‘t until 40 percent of the way through that I found myself catching momentum. I‘m a sucker for a love story — even a doomed one.

The historical afterward is perfection.

Linsy Awww, thank you! 🙏 Sleep helped, as did husband watching baby so I could get a bath. I hate that when I‘m sick, I‘m less interested in reading. It seems like that‘d be the best time for it! @cobwebmoth @CouronneDhiver @Leftcoastzen @radhikeey @Jas16 @Sarah83 @LeahBergen @Redwritinghood @mabell @kyraleseberg @TheLibrarian 7y

Linsy @MelissaSue81 Yes! Which is unfortunate. I love my tiny Kindle so much! My husband got it as a Christmas gift for me two years ago when my 8-year-old one died. I can‘t imagine going back! 7y

Pub date May 15: Another #SixTudorQueens novel from #AlisonWeir. Not as much is known about Jane Seymour, as hardly any artifacts or letters were left from her short 3 yr reign. Weir dubs her The Haunted Queen, weighed by guilt about Anne‘s demise and her inability to halt Henry and Cromwell‘s pilfering and ruin of the churches. As I have found all of these books in the series, it was entertaining with the kicker being the Author‘s Note.

Linsy This is in my NetGalley cue. We seem to be drawn to a lot of the same books! I love Alison Weir‘s biographies. This will be my first of her fiction! 7y

Bailedbailed

I‘m usually a fan of Alison Weir‘s historical fiction but I had to bail on this book. Parts were rushed and choppy while other sections dragged on. Jane Seymour was one of the less interesting wives of Henry VIII so I think that‘s why this story seemed tedious. #arc #netgalley

If you enjoy the Tudor period, I recommend #SixTudorQueens series by #AlisonWeir. I‘ve enjoyed the two previous books on Katherine Aragon The True Queen and Anne Boleyn A Kong‘s Obession. It‘s nice to learn more about the not as popular queens and we have three more books in the series to look forward to!
#JaneSeymour The Haunted Queen is being released on May 15th. I do prefer the UK covers over these US ones though.
