Amazing how I can pull together a substantial stack of #blue books from my temporary bookshelves, none of which I have even read 😬💙
#readingresolutions
I am very interested in reading this one. #aplanetinthetitle #junebookbugs
What do you think of this stack, in addition to the two I haven't finished for a four day vacation? Assuming I spend some time with family too! 🤣🤣 I wanted some variety.
Today's #bookhaul from Book Barn. It was such a nice day here and we had a lot of fun shopping. My husband also picked up a few DVDs.
#TBRtemptation post! A psychological thriller about a comfortable Boston family--optometrist Don, stable manager Viv, & their kids. A horse owner, Hilary, brings her gorgeous thoroughbred, Mercury, to board at Viv's. Viv starts dreaming about competing again. The dreams turn to an obsession. Don picks up on that too late. Being too late, things start spiraling out-of-control fast. Too fast. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
Book club met last night and picked Mercury by Margot Livesey for our January meeting. Others in the running were Astor Place Vintage and Hello from the Gillespies. I'm keeping these two out from the library because I do want to read them. 😊📚
Let me preface this by saying that I normally finish a book before bed, and then sleep on it and review it in the morning. However after finishing this I couldn‘t wait. I had such a visceral reaction to this book even though it did not relate to me much except for the blind friend. A tale of obsession mixed with a marriage in crisis makes for a thrillingly fast read. I could not put it down and stayed up far too late many a night!
Not quite a quote but a good way of describing how the visually impaired feel. Growing up with two parents who were legally blind and who also ran a group for the legally blind I was always imagining what life would be like if I too couldn't see.
Sped through this book in a day. Great suspense, relationship drama, book club friendly. A wonderful surprise.
Brought 3 books home from my new library. This one is the clear winner. Can't stop reading.
I am pleased by an average day, and I know I am neither great nor awesome. What's more, I don't believe other people are either, although I am too polite to say so.
"Consuming.... Explores themes of honesty and understanding by showing the impact that obsessions—grief, rapacity—can have on a marriage.” ( The New Yorker)
Also a great audio book! Check it out on libro.fm/iconoclastbooks
@HarperCollins sent me a copy (Thanks, btw.) for a review I need done for a blog tour on Tuesday. It arrived today. Yikes. Anyone read it?
This book was, in its own way, thrilling, it had a quiet intensity to it that hit home because it was a book about consequences, about how the actions (or non-action) of ordinary people can lead to such unexpected results. Mercury, by the way, is the name of a horse. https://reallifereading.com/2016/09/29/tlc-book-tours-mercury-by-margot-livesey/
Also happy #nationalcoffeeday!
I just learned that Margot Livesey is doing a free online writing class through the University of Iowa this fall. I think I'm going to try it out, and thought others might want to also!

I had an Oh Crap! moment today when I realized my review for this book is due this week as part of a blog tour. And then I almost couldn't find the book because of all the mess I've made of my books for the photo challenge (#blameitonlitsy for sure). But yes I did finally find it and now am reading as fast as I can while eating dinner.
So wanted to get into this but just couldn't do it. I will have to go back and give it another go later.
