DNF- I really liked the first book in this series, but was not a super fan of the second. Then I just could t get into this no matter how hard I tried. I got over 50% and just wasn‘t interested anymore. #SeriesLove #HauntedShelves #TeamFlurken

The curse of the third book strikes again, to ruin another amazing trilogy ☹️
80% of it is battle, which is SO tedious.
But the worst thing is that he completely destroyed the cast of characters he took two books to build up. WTH? killed off/twisted the existing characters, introduced underwhelming new ones, and just gave the whole a book an aura of destruction and hopelessness. This book barely belongs with the previous two, it is so different.
I went with all my Abercrombie books for today‘s prompt since his books are filled with #War 🗡⚔️🛡 #ReadingResolutions 📖

A great finale to a great series! More heroes to cheer for and more villains to hate. Would have loved to have seen a better ending for some characters (maybe a spinoff, Joe?) I'm a bit sad to see this one end ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Feeling randy? Probably not after this paragraph. "...peeling and unpeeling..." "...sticky fumbling." LoL thanks for ruining my Saturday night, Joe Abercrombie.
Joe Abercrombie writes with grit and wit that just won't quit! #allisnotlost #fantasy #escapism
Settling down with the last of Shattered Sea because it's only 2pm and I've already had a very long day.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ This book was really good. I was a bit disappointed with a few things and I thought it was a bit strange how people seemed to travel really fast but overall I really liked it.
"The faster you run from the past, the faster it catches you. All you can do is turn to face it. Embrace it. Try and meet the future wiser for it."
Thorn is my spirit animal.
Got into bed early tonight to have a nice, long reading session. This is such a great series.
"I use to believe there were heroes in the world..." This book was a great end to the Shattered Sea trilogy. All the characters come together and by the end you have some new favorites and some old ones left behind. Worth reading slowly and enjoying every bit. "...but there are monsters, and perhaps the best we can have is the worst on our side."
This is my bedside tbr stack. The top half are books I've bought and the bottom half are books from the library. The books I buy I only read at home and library books go with me on my commute. I read from top to bottom in the order I get them because I'm an extremely methodical person and I like things to be in order. My stack has reached epic proportions because I've been reading some really thick books lately which are holding up progress. ☺️
Today's mail. Gonna be a busy summer. Can't wait to finish off The Shattered Sea series.
Could not have ended more perfectly. But!!!
I need more of Raith and Thorn and may be two of them together across half the world through Devine and Denied and in first of cities.
Wait what.... Just what?? Brand died!! No!! I love the author but this is just not... Fair! Agh!
"look of fury, a look of pain, a look of hatred you can trust. A smile can hide anything"
A fantastic conclusion to an awesome trilogy.
With impeccable writing and incredible cast of characters, both new and old, Half a War was unputdownable. I was eager to see how it would turn out, who would be sent through the Last Door, and who would make it.
I loved it. Will read again and again.
That moment when you're not expecting something and your breath catches and then the tears show up.
I wasn't prepared for that.
"You're a fighter, and the gods know, we need some. But the man who finds fights everywhere, well... soon enough he'll find one fight too many."
"Everything I've got, I had to beat from the world with my fists."
"Aye. And what have you got?"
Might be the old man had some ghost of a point.
"... when Mother Sea whips up the storm, a captain does what he must to save what he can. Freedom's worth nothing to the dead. Pride's worth little even to the living."
"Wise words. The beaten can win tomorrow. The dead have lost forever."
