14 posts
Foreword by Bob Garfield. Afterword by Marian Wright Edelman Born in 1928 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, Fred Rogers began his television career in 1951 at NBC. In 1954, he became program director for the newly founded WQED-TV in Pittsburgh, the first community-supported television station in the United States. From 1954 to 1961, Rogers and Josie Carey produced and performed in WQED's The Children's Corner, which became part of the the Saturday morning lineup on NBC in 1955 and 1956. It was after Fred Rogers was ordained as a Presbyterian minister in 1963, with a special charge of serving children and their families through television, that he developed what became the award-winning PBS series Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. It‘s a rainy day in my neighborhood @MrBook but here are some pics. I get homesick for Queens, but after 18 years I like country life too. Im about ten minutes away from town. #litsyneighborhood wait!!! This can count for #greengreengrassofhome too! #wanderingjune

Jerdencon Very different from Queens! 5y
theresidentromantic Where do you live now? I'm from Brooklyn and moved into the vague "upstate" about 8 years ago! Sometimes things still throw me, but I love my trees and the quiet. 5y
MrBook Wonderful!!! 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 5y

I finally watched “Won‘t You Be My Neighbor?” - the documentary on Mr. Rogers. I watched his show most days as a child. I did not realize then, just how mindful each and every episode was, paralleled to what was going on in the world. This has always been one of my favourite quotes. Look for the helpers. Has anyone seen it yet? What did you think?

My haul from the Friendship Flower & Folk festival. Love this neighborhood. Now I'm reading in the park and waiting to see if I'm lucky enough to win one of the raffle prizes.

TrishB Looks like a great afternoon! 7y
