Excellent read. A bit of Jewish philosophy. A bit of Jewish History. Modern quasi suspense. A family story. A lot going on but well written. I couldn‘t stop reading.

Thanks for the tag @MaleficentBookDragon
1. Hard choice. They are both beautiful but I guess a sunrise holds more promise.
2. Philosophical, parallel and engrossing.

The premise of this novel is interesting, & I almost gave this a pick because there were a lot of moments where the idea & characters really connected for me. But it felt disjointed. I don‘t think the two timelines connected enough, or maybe the author didn‘t transition well back and forth between them... & I thought the casual writing style & “bestselling fiction” type plot scenes didn‘t quite match the esoteric subject matter.
If you're an Alice Hoffman fan, this book will feel familiar to you. Great story, meticulously researched and bounding between worlds while rooted in age-old sibling rivalry and navel-gazing.

Ever have one of those days where you just want to read the book? I'm almost done with this one and dying to know what happens at the end. I lolled around in bed this morning reading until the kids made me get up, and now, I'm reading in between cookie-baking.
Next up: a book sent to me by PJ Library, because why should kids have all the fun?! Also, this is a nice book to hold in my hand. The paper for the outside cover feels like thick watercolor paper.
Hooray, #bookmail! Thanks to #pjlibrary for keeping my toddler and even me in Jewish books. Everything I've read of Horn has been great, so really looking forward to this!
I'm excited to dive into this one today. Bring on the weekend!
