Hay everybody! Hay-on-wye that is 📚
In 1962, Richard Booth bought the old fire station in Hay on Wye and turned it into a book shop, buying stock from libraries that were closing. Within 6 years, he was generating a turnover of c640,000. In 1988, the father and son Norman & Peter Florence launched a literary festival in the town. The town of 1,500 inhabitants welcomes half a million bibliophiles each June, to see things such as this #WallOfBooks in the castle grounds
