so-soI usually really like Aimee Bender, but this collection wasn‘t my favorite. I think there were too many stories and I wanted fewer stories with more development. Not bad, but I didn‘t love any of he short stories like I‘ve loved her other work.

so-soI'm not sure where I read about this book but I decided I needed to read it (even though I generally avoid short story collections). It's an odd collection, strangely compelling with some truely great opening lines... but it's also pretty random...
And the #awkwardmoment award goes to....
When I first read Aimee Bender, I had devour all her work as soon as possible. She writes the best whimsical--and sometimes disturbing--short stories. Definitely a must-read if you like #magicalrealism. Gah! Just looking at my shelves tells me I'm overdue for a reread! #magicalmonday #magicalshortstory
