Finished my shelving project!
10-24 Jul 2022 (audiobook)
The last in the Stephen Fry narrated audiobook collection. I shall miss Bertie Wooster and his ridiculous agreeableness. And Jeeves‘ somewhat troublesome solutions, which frequently land Bertie in further fixes.
So would anyone be interested in doing a group of just Wodehouse books?? This is kind of random so I didn't want to take up a whole group if no one else was even interested 😂 I also thought about trying to label it something like “happy fiction“ - Wodehouse, Georgette Heyer, just books that are feel-good and happy but not necessarily ROMANCE, if that makes sense?? Let me know if anyone is interested in something like this, as there are still ⬇
Thank you for the #WondrousWednesday tag @Eggs !! I have been tagged in a few posts like this lately and have been TERRIBLE about actually posting them!
1. Probably P.G. Wodehouse or Agatha Christie. However, I've also read a LOT of Nora Roberts, all the Amelia Peabody books by Elizabeth Peters, and the entire 87th Precinct series by Ed McBain lol
2. I literally read everywhere, like while I'm doing chores and walking from place to place. ⬇
#SundaySoapbox - love this hashtag @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks !!!
I always recommend Wodehouse, and the tagged book is one of my all-time favorites, although in general, it's hard to go wrong. I also love Daniel Pinkwater's absolutely zany sense of humor - The Snarkout Boys and the Avocado of Death always makes me laugh.
Some books I absolutely love so much that I want to recommend them, but am scared to in case the person doesn't love them ⬇
Typical Jeeves & Wooster. Bertie‘s shenanigans always make me smile if not laugh out loud — something I needed today. My daughter brought me this framed picture of our sweet boy. That helped as well; I miss him.
I had a little trouble deciding who my favorite literary character IS for the Day 4 post for #LitsySummerCamp but finally settled on Bertie Wooster. However, I'm not sure what exactly Bertie would do at camp - I'm inclined to think that he would spend most of his time avoiding activities whilst being pursued by a young woman intent on helping him improve his mind 😂
@ImperfectCJ
"It looked pretty foul."
?
I decided I needed to read something a little more lighthearted after the last few books. The shenanigans of Bertie and Jeeves sounded like a good idea. This did not disappoint.
#bookspinbingo @TheAromaofBooks
I have a new favorite humor author and I blame it all on @TheAromaofBooks !
I felt like I was in the middle of a rollicking slapstick comedy from beginning to end. Bumbling Bertie sure gets himself into quite a tangled web of mishaps, but somehow clever Jeeves comes to his rescue. Besides all the hearty laughs, I couldn‘t get enough of P.G.‘s stunning prose.
Thanks for hooking us up, Sarah!
I‘m still working on column G for
#BookSpinBingo
Finally pulled together these contenders for the June #BookSpin. For May, I read 5 books and bailed on 2. Let the games begin! 🤓📚Thanks for organizing this each month,
@TheAromaofBooks Mr. Plum has his fingers crossed again! 😆
I‘m jumping in without a net and taking on May‘s #BookSpinBonanza! P.G. hopes his number comes up sooner than later cuz he knows I‘m a slow reader! 😂🎲 @TheAromaofBooks
#BookSpin
Yay! It‘s almost time for April‘s #BookSpin! I‘m keeping the same list as last month, just added 2 new books to replace the ones I read. Thanks @TheAromaofBooks ! P.G. may have a chance this time with the Double and Triple Spins.😉🤞🏻
(Finally figured out how to post all these images, thx to @MaleficentBookDragon 😅)
Thank you so much for tagging me @UwannaPublishme & @Jerdencon !!
1. Sooo many, but I think P.G. Wodehouse has to be pretty high on the list.
2. I really don't have questions for him; he just seems like a super fun guy to adopt as a fun uncle & have come to all the family shenanigans.
3. Over a thousand. I have a neverending project to reread all of them & jettison the ones I'm never going to read again, but....! :-D
#WondrousWednesday @Eggs
I am enjoying a little quiet time this morning before the kids get crazy. Please ignore my filthy deck. Lots of trees in my yard and leaves all 10 months out of the year! 😂 #lazydays
Not my favourite of the Jeeves and Wooster novels, but still not a bad way to spend an afternoon or two.
#tuneintonovember #sleepingin
Trust Bertie Wooster to know the value of a good sleep in! This quote is from the first story about Jeeves and Wooster “Extricating Young Gussie” 😂😂
It was one of those cases where you approve the broad, general principle of an idea but can't help being in a bit of a twitter at the prospect of putting it into practical effect. I explained this to Jeeves, and he said much the same thing had bothered Hamlet.
I love Wodehouse. So silly, so funny, it's perfect escapism. This is full of his typical situations, scout-inflicted housefires, chaotic fancydress parties, shifting romantic alliances and a stolen police uniform. Sublime.
Needed a light read after this week, so picked some Wodehouse. Jeeves and Wooster never disappoint! 💜💜💜
