This YA-marketed Wonder Woman origin story is way more coherent and readable than the last WW run. I enjoyed it greatly. After celebrating her 16th Born Day, WW becomes trapped outside the barrier, eventually coming to the USA as a refugee. She struggles with the poverty and inequality she sees, and tries to help.

This is an empowering version of Wonder Woman. 16 years old and sheltered on her peaceful island . Diana is thrown into a world of hunger, loss, and unjustness of humanity. I am happy to see more wonder woman GN‘s being written by women and love seeing Wonder Woman as an social justice warrior!!

I enjoyed the twist in this rendition of Wonder Woman's story but I always bristle at her naivete. I know, I know... she was raised on an secret island, blah blah blah but goodness gracious.

Well, we broke our self imposed quaratine for a moment of fun! At a bookstore! Went for a magazine for the hubby but came out with a good haul!

The hubby has learned that the fastest way to get me to stop browsing is to have the little one shout "Mama! Mama!"

4 stars! Follow princess Diana on her 16th born day & experience her own insecurities among her people & the event which leaves her stranded from her beloved island. Anderson really captured the essence of young womanhood and I loved this graphic novel!

I love Anderson and Wonder Woman, so this mashup is right up my alley. Anderson does a nice job setting teenage Diana in our world and allowing us to see the injustices encountered by everyday people and also refugees and immigrants through new eyes by using Diana's outside-looking-in perspective. There's less rough and tumble action than you may expect, but it's a timely book and celebratory of the human spirit. NetGalley sent an ARC for review.

This was a great YA interpretation of Wonder Woman!

The book was very appropriate for the young adult age range. This focuses on a teenage Diana and she is portrayed exactly like that. Diana is frustrated with her changing body and is unsure of her place in the world. A lot of teenagers will be able to relate to her and her struggles of growing up.

Diana gets stuck in our modern world. She has to learn to navigate as a teenager.
She come to the u.s. as a refugee and starts getting involved with some nonprofit organizations feeding children. You don't see a lot of action and when you do it's really fast not really well explained. You get just a touch of the Wonder that is Wonder Woman. Overall I did like the story I think it's a great first step. However I wasn't completely wowed.

We enjoyed the origin portions and Diana's desire to help those who can't always help themselves, not just with strength and agility but also using linguistics and her vast array of languages. In this story her human community (NYC) is also dealing with food shortages for kids when they aren't in school and child trafficking, each inviting important conversatiom topics for our family while we enjoyed this title.
