This was really good. It started off good – I do like the feisty Molly – but it picked up in the last 1/3 of the book, as things became dangerous for her. I wasn‘t sure initially about Sid and Gus – two women that took Molly in with a room to live in – but I sure did like them by the end! The book seems to do a good job of portraying early 20th century NYC, as well.

2020 #82 This is turning out to be a great “I can‘t decide what to read” series. I love having a good series to fall back on because sometimes I am incapable of making a decision on the next book.

EadieB @Andrew65 I credit per book. I try to mail 2 or 3 books to each person by checking out their wishlist and seeing if I have the books on their list. That saves postage too. (edited) 5y

Oh how I love Molly, the main character of this book! She is spunky and strong, and she sticks to her own ideas about how she wants to live her life, rather than letting anyone dictate to her what is appropriate for her life. A turn of the century female detective in New York City. And she meets such great new characters in this one, too!

Tove_Reads Bit annoyed with her policeman. Keeps on wanting to make her a simple housewife. 6y

rjsthumbelina @Tove_Reads I already have that problem with him! But, I suppose any turn of the century man would expect that from a woman...and Molly wont stand for that anyway! This second book was nice in that it was a reprieve from that relationship and Molly finds lots of new friends! I enjoyed that aspect a lot. I know they get back together soon, which is fine, as long as Molly keeps her own friendships going bc I loved the new characters! 6y
