#Movember #day2 #Music Music is almost as important to me as reading. My taste in music is just as eclectic as my reading, I love classical right through to heavy metal. I grew up first listening to 70s heavy rock from my brothers, Led Zep, Pink Floyd, then 80s pop, Madonna, Prince, 90s grunge, Nirvana, RHCP then the 00s, Foo Fighters, Ryan Adams. My heart belongs to Jeff Buckley, but lately I find myself back to the 70s a lot, Bowie & the Stones

Cinfhen You are my GreenEyed Pixie Rock 🌟 🙌🏻 5y

Cinfhen Great hashtag 💗🙌🏻and great song 5y
vivastory Great post! I also have eclectic tastes in music. Although I tend to gravitate towards contemporary alt rock I love classical (wrote a paper in school about Tchaikovsky, who I found fascinating), jazz, early blues, 70s rock (T-Rex, David Bowie) etc 5y

#MarchIntoOz #day21 #LivingInThe70s To celebrate my birthday I‘m taking us back to the year I was born & to a song that was all over the radio in the 70s. Skyhooks were a glam/camp rock band that were quintessentially Aussie. The tagged book is about the year I was born when all the best rock was released, songs like American Pie, Baba O‘Riley, Brown Sugar & Stairway To Heaven. The photo is my family in our front yard in 1976, that‘s me, front right!

alisiakae Happy Birthday!! 🎁🎂🎉🎈 7y

#NuYear #day16 #Tracks The tracks referenced in this non-fiction book about 1971‘s year of music, are some of the most famous tracks of all time. Songs like American Pie by Don McLean, Brown Sugar by The Rolling Stones, Baba O‘Riley by The Who & biggest of all, Stairway To Heaven by LED Zeppelin. It also happens to be the year I was born, which makes me a legend too. Rock on dudes!🤟

Cinfhen Love this!!! Book sounds fabulous just like you😎😎😎😎😎 7y

#NovemberByTheNumbers #day9 Finding books that fit is getting harder & harder to do, but after much searching for a book with just 9 in the title, I‘ve had to go with a book with nine as part of a number instead. Oh well, it‘s at least in the title. I love this book, not just because I love the music, but also because 1971 was the year I was born. Never a dull moment indeed.

#EmojiNov #day8 #🎼 #Music These are a few of my books about music & musicians. As you could probably tell by these, I have a huge obsession with the golden age of rock, late 60s-70s and the grunge/punk 90s music scene too. As well as these I also have biographies of Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin & Bon Scott from AC/DC.

I'm a 70's baby so if course I'm obsessed with everything 70's. Especially the rock n roll!

Suzze I was 18 in 1971. I think I spent that year going to a concert every weekend. I have to read this book! 8y
tracyramone @suzze that's awesome! I would kill for a time machine to be able to do what you lived! For real, jealous! 8y
Suzze @tracyramone I did that 10 concerts I attended, 1 is a lie thing and everyone was jealous. LOL 8y

The writer's thesis is that 1971 was Rock's Golden Year, not merely for the astounding number of great records that came out, but also for how it laid the way for everything that followed. As much social history as rock book this is a witty and engaging read that sent me back to those old albums and had me investigating stuff that had passed me by.

Cinfhen Sounds really fun & fascinating! 8y
LitHousewife I loved this book and not just because I was born in 1971. 😂 8y

Hepworth's hypothesis that 1971 was the most important year in rock and roll is hard to argue with--it was a year of groundbreaking albums (Who's Next, Sticky Fingers, Led Zeppelin IV) and the tipping point between the old world of the pop single and the meteoric rise of the album. Hepworth corrals the whole cast of outrageous characters and tells the story with such painstaking detail that there's no doubt it's a labor of love. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really enjoyed this book. It was great to read it a chapter at a time. It has really made me put some thought into my musical choices. I've discovered some great albums. I'm sure many would argue with 1971 being the pivotal year of rock music, but I loved discovering the year of my birth this way.

Matthew Sweet's Girlfriend doesn't have anything to do with Never a Dull Moment or 1971, but this book has me exploring albums again. I've really become a consumer of singles, but there's something wonderful about listening to a full album. This is another I missed along the way and it's beautiful.

[DELETED] 3216391035 One of my very favorite albums ever! 8y
LitHousewife @Basia That's exactly what my husband said last night. It is fantastic. Now I need to find my next album to explore (not that I won't be listening to this over and over). 8y
Eastbriar I have not listened to that album in years! It's great, I need to pull it out and give it a listen. 8y
LitHousewife @Eastbriar I'm now on my second listen of the day. So good! 8y

A blast to the past. Love the memories (yes, I remember 1971). Rather than dig out my vinyl, I'm streaming *my* music--what a long way we've come since those heady days. Did I know rock was exploding? I haven't a clue but I still have my albums from those years. I'm reading this chapter by chapter

LitHousewife It's a good book to read chapter by chapter. I'm curious to see which album I pick up next. Tapestry is so darn good. 8y
Well-ReadNeck I'm soooo intrigued. Need to grab this one. I think my favorite Van Morrision song, Tupelo Honey, was released that year. 8y
BethFishReads @Well-Read Neck I LOVE that song. 8y

Apparently rock exploded the year I was born. No coincidence there. It should be interesting to read about that year month by month through music.
