A librarian's discovery of a mysterious book sparks the journey of a lifetime in the delightful new novel from the international bestselling author of The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper Librarian Martha Storm has always found it easier to connect with books than people--though not for lack of trying. She keeps careful lists of how to help others in her superhero-themed notebook. And yet, sometimes it feels like she's invisible. All of that changes when a book of fairy tales arrives on her doorstep. Inside, Martha finds a dedication written to her by her best friend--her grandmother Zelda--who died under mysterious circumstances years earlier. When Martha discovers a clue within the book that her grandmother may still be alive, she becomes determined to discover the truth. As she delves deeper into Zelda's past, she unwittingly reveals a family secret that will change her life forever. Filled with Phaedra Patrick's signature charm and vivid characters, The Library of Lost and Found is a heartwarming and poignant tale of how one woman must take control of her destiny to write her own happy ending.

A package for Martha? What a nice surprise.

Could it really be for her? No one does things for her. She is the one who never says no and does things for everyone else.

Another heartwarming GEM by Phaedra Patrick with lovable characters you would want to have in your life and is a book you won‘t want to end.

This is the anti-small town friends and family book. Many of the people were quietly cruel and the main character was extremely mealy mouthed. The quirky character was a bit too much and the story felt vague and drawn out.

I really enjoyed this book. It‘s a heartwarming read about finding yourself. I liked the main character, Martha, she certainly evolves throughout the story. She‘s quirky. A captivating read involving family secrets, a book to get lost in. I read this with my online reading group, thereadingloft.groups.io.

I‘ve absolutely read this before, though I don‘t recall when, but it was a lovely read regardless. An ocean side exploration of a families shared and yet distinct history and the complications that come with that.

I did the audiobook version, and found it to be very good. One of the themes involves a library, a place near and dear to my heart. This was a heartwarming story that dealt with family dynamics, good and bad. I was kept intrigued until the end, waiting to find out the answers to the many questions that the story posed. I found the characters endearing, and absolutely love books that take place on the British seaside.

I gave my match two options to choose from for the theme; and I got this lovely mashup of both of them! Australia on the top, with one book and two gorgeous book sleeves! Below, we have books about books. Bookish gifts: A book tote, bookmarks, stickers, tea and candy.Thanks @Pigpen_Reads I love everything! I really enjoyed this. I listened to the audio, and I thought it was done well. I did lose a bit of interest in the stories that Martha had written (but “stories within stories” tend to do that with me… not usually interested, I skim). I did find the rest of it – the family relationships and secrets interesting, though I did guess at one of them, but that didn‘t take away my enjoyment of the book

Martha prefers books to people. She is methodical, organised and often feels invisible to those around her. One day, she finds a book outside her workplace which makes Martha realise her grandmother (who she thought had passed away) may actually be alive. What other family secrets will Martha discover?
A heartwarming story with a great set of characters.

I wanted to love this book, but it just fell short. I didn‘t feel excited to read it. I did like the story, but there was just something missing. It was my goal to finish this audiobook for #anywayyoureadathon so mission accomplished

Despite my frustrations with the character Thomas that I mentioned earlier I really enjoyed this book. It explored self-acceptance, self-identity, and the sacrifices we make for those we love. It had just enough whimsy to keep it lighthearted overall. I will say by the end of the book I could understand moreso why Thomas‘ wife put up with his behavior. I think this book is an important lesson in not letting others determine your identity.

A bit rushed in places, but does a really good job examining the effects of quite, long term, emotional and psychological abuse in the home on women and the ways that society reinforces the damage that women often live with. It helps me remember the that sometimes ppl in my profession deserve more grace than I give them. My major issue is the way librarian hiring processes are described, although that might be an Irish/USA difference. 3.5/5 stars

It‘s been a while since I hated a character in a book (the only other one being Umbridge from the Harry Potter series) but I HATE Thomas. He makes my blood boil. Why any wife would let a husband this controlling rule their life is beyond me. Thankfully he‘s not the main character or I might throw the phone I‘m reading on across the room, breaking it, and then I could no longer continue with this intriguing story.

A charming read. I loved this book about a librarian, Martha and how she finally finds herself after spending most of her life helping others fulfil themselves at the cost of her own happiness. Best read cozied up with a scented candle and a nice cup of tea. I was captivated by Martha and her determination to finally find herself and reveal long hidden family secrets. This book just reaffirms for me how magical books can be.

Martha volunteers at her local library. Unfortunately, her caretaker tendencies and inability to say no means she is taken advantage of by those around her. When she receives a book inscribed by her long dead grandmother, she sets out on a journey of discoveries about her family and herself.

Honestly, I related way too hard with Martha in the beginning, which really didn‘t allow me to enjoy the book more. But it was sweet and charming. 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑

So, I saw this zucchini in my garden a few days ago and thought to myself “All right. That‘s looking good. I‘ll pick it in a couple days.”

Piece of advice? Don‘t wait a couple days on a zucchini plant. 😂

So it‘s time for some #audiobaking and some double chocolate zucchini bread.

Poor old Martha Storm! She volunteers at the local library where it seems her service and devotion to service of others is taken for granted. One day an old book an old book appears with a mysterious message for Martha. This event sets Martha on a path of discovery, both about herself and her family history.
A lovely, feel good book which makes you cheer on Martha as she finally begins to look out for herself.

It‘s rare for me to pan a book, but I just didn‘t really enjoy this one. I didn‘t really like any of the characters, and the overall plot of the story made me angry and depressed - the book tried to end on a happy hopeful note, but it wasn‘t enough for me. There are better books out there about reunions and redemption.

Phew! And as expected, finished it this weekend ;D I had included this in 2 Bookspin lists as it has remained partially read since last year (?)

Despite the alluring title, this story revolved around family secrets. It lacked the charm of Arthur Pepper, so that was a disappointment for me. If one can be patient with the Needy protagonist, story picks up in the last few chapters.

The house was a mess and it had to change.

She had to change.

- I don't find this story as enjoyable as her earlier book. But I can identify with the hoarding and the mess. Maybe that's the reason I haven't DNF this book.
The main character neatly labels her clutter though and her reasons for not letting go, are not similar to mine (methinks ;)

Volunteer librarian Martha finds a package addressed left for her at the the library that contains a book of her childhood stories and a note from her Grandmother. The only thing is her Grandmother died three years before the dated note was written. A feel good book that was good but not great. The plot was a little thin for me and a few too many coincidences. I loved Zelda and the imagery was good.

Middle aged list making duty bound Martha attends to everyone elses needs but her own. After family secrets are brought to light she is encouraged to believe in herself again. Is it too late for her to experience happiness and fun in her life or is her duty in life to always put ithers first. Sweet and lite. Just what i needed. Nothing too earth shattering here but it kept moving forward for me.

This was sadly sweet, much like Arthur Pepper. Patrick is really quite wonderful at character development and letting her characters really develop and grow throughout the course of the book. A lovely little read for a wintery day.
