This book is amazing. The characters are really well developed and love able.

"Anticipation is the worst part."

Dystopia stories are my guilty pleasures, and this one didn't disappoint. It was exactly the quick, distracting read I was looking for. I like that it was written by sisters, about twin sisters. A fun book but also horrifying at times. The world building was worrisome in the way that the Gilead is in The Handmaid's Tale... it seems too close to being a believable future.

Lunchtime reading in the sunshine is the best!

Intense and Fast paced

I liked this YA dystopian novel, which I listened to via Kindle Unlimited. Though it lands solidly within the typical dystopian tropes, Saunders and Saunders do a good job developing the story of twins, Ava and Mira, who live in a future version of Texas. In the United States, families are allowed only to have one child, a policy enforced via implanted microchips. (continued in comments)

I loved this book I can't wait for the next one to come out!!!!

This book shows a futuristic United States, where your only allowed one child where food and water is scarce and the government is oppressive.It‘s a young adult science fiction,that is fast paced. I would definitely read the sequel.

Ava and Mira are twins--which makes their existence illegal. They have lived 18 years sharing the identity of Ava, the firstborn. No one knows that Mira exists. What happens when their secret is exposed? They begin a life on the run and find themselves the faces of a rebellion. The concept of this book had potential, but I found the execution to be weak. It was a quick, easy read; but I couldn't get invested in the story. I won't read the sequel.

I really enjoyed this. The world of this book sounds frightening plausible and I like the two main characters. The sequel comes out in May and I'll be eager to find out what happens next.

I've had little time to read since starting this book but now The Hubs and I are catching a flight to San Antonio, to see our girlie graduate from navy A school, so I'll have the next few hours with nothing to do but read. Ahhhh

This is my current read and it's off to a good start.

The story of twins living, hiding, and running from a government that has outlawed multiple births, written by twins, is very compelling and entertaining. The twins, Mira and Ava, each tell the story and the reader gets to explore the world through each of their eyes and feelings. There is so much they didn't know about their father, that is uncovered as they travel away from dangers and towards rebellion. I'm looking forward to the sequel.

I always get the weirdest looks when I bring my kindle to the gym. 😂 Like, music and TV just doesn't keep me entertained for long enough, and if I don't have anything then I'll just stare into space and count the seconds until I can go home.

Is anyone else with me on this?

Btw, these Amazon First Reads books are perfect for the gym. At least the ones I typically order don't have plots that are too involved, and they're fairly quick reads.

The thing I loved most about this book is that everything in the society of this book could actually happen in our future. Everyone could be microchipped, our population could be controlled by limiting the number of children you can have, and our country being completely closed off to other countries. There were a lot of quotes that really stuck out to me and I‘ve included a few here. I‘ll definitely be reading the sequel when it comes out!

I picked this book up because of the reviews, and as the storyline went it was a good story. I felt, however, that it jumped ahead in places without enough backstory, and in other places dragged on with too many tedious details.

This story started off so strong! I was listening to it as an audiobook and wanted to find out what would happen next. The premise of two girls secretly living as twins in a world were the rule is only one child really drew me in. However, as I got towards the middle and end, it was hard for me to focus on the story. I lost interest. Even though the beginning was great, it was so-so for me overall.

Had a lot of driving to do today so started this one and loving it so far! It has sucked me in and I can‘t wait to find out what happens next! In the book, each family is limited to one child. When twins Ava and Mira are born to a doctor and his wife, they have to secretly trade places every day in order to take turns being Ava. This one is a YA dystopian novel about a future in which climate change and overcrowding have led to citizens limited to one child per family. This poses a problem in the case of twins. The book was written by twins which I thought was pretty cool. The writing is decent, I will give them that. However there is too much need to suspend disbelief and too many plot holes. Younger YA readers are smarter than this. #KindleFirsts

An easy read. Nothing really wrong with it but it's been done before. Kind of predictable.

I put the Lost Girl of Astor Street on the back burner and moved on to the Rule of One. I'm still so sick even though it feels like too long, and I'm having a hard time reading. Just can't get into it which seems ironic while needing the down time. 😔

Picked this for my Kindle First this month. As an only child who is a mother twins, this intrigues me. What would I do if I were in that situation? I love my kids more than my next breath. I am excited to get into what will likely be an emotionally difficult book for me, because I won‘t be seeing things from the kids perspective, but the moms.
