Finished this book and liked reading the physical copy way more than listening to this audiobook. Overall I really enjoyed it as a dystopian book, but Jonas never really grew on me. I wanted to know more of how the got where they ended up as a whole society. And that ending!!! I liked what I thought happened and not whatbthe rest of the book series says happened. If you know, you know. #TheGiver #LoisLowry

About to get into this book with all the hype. Has anyone read this? What were you thoughts? Is it worth the hype? 📚🖤

Shamzi Well!! I would say yes and no!! The premise is interesting, feels like science fiction but that is not what it is, it is more about the characters in the book and about the futility of human life!!! It is not fast paced but builds through out. 6y

Finally finished this book on my break today. It was definitely not a thriller like I thought it would be for #Spookathon but I loved the simple nod to how grief moves though people and a family. Yet, there was a weird part in the end I wasn‘t fond of at all and I understand how many people complained that the story moved very slowly. So I‘m on the fence about who/when I would recommend people read it. #TheLovelyBones #AliceSebold

NeedsMoreBooks I loved this book although I agree it is slow. The whole plot and the treatment of grief is poignant. 6y
Phantasma.Maddie @NeedsMoreBooks I totally understood why it was slow and I got that part and really wasn‘t bothered about it like some people were, I just really didn‘t like the switching bodies with Ruth part. I found it distracting to the plot. Did you like it? 6y
NeedsMoreBooks I liked the book overall but the Ruth part was a bit weird. 6y
See All 6 Comments
Phantasma.Maddie @NeedsMoreBooks I really think that part is what made it a so-so for me and made me feel weird about recommending it. Like ANYONE with grief I think would love this book, but then thinking their loved ones were inhabiting other bodies puts a weird spin on it. I thought Ruth‘s character overall was an odd one and I connected so much about some parts of her and others not at all. 6y
Phantasma.Maddie @NeedsMoreBooks who was your favorite character? 6y
NeedsMoreBooks @Phantasma.Maddie I liked Susie, Buckley, and Holly. Had read it when it had first released. Time for a re-read 😊 6y

A great book for October, but I am not usually a series reader and this one does read like a series. So much set up in this first book! I REALLY don‘t like Jacob, I‘m sorry but he really has got to start evolving as a character if I am going to keep reading this series. Overall, I feel like this is a book written for people that like a certain genre, and if you like it you have probably already read it. Maybe I‘ll like the next book more...

This book was quirky, inclusive, girl powered, fun, and just a really good time of reading. It reminds me of all those campy 90s Halloween Disney movies. A who-done-it that doesn‘t really challenge or scare you but still keeps your interest. It‘s a good witchy Halloween read for the non-horror loving among us. And yes, I finished four books just today. #UndeadGirlGang #LilyAnderson

I LOVED the parts about mental illness, they were so comforting and affirming. The other chapters that were about moments in her life like visiting Australia, were kind of lost of me. Maybe because I never read her blog or her other books? I also listened to it on audiobook and found myself zoning out. I would recommend this overall if you are interested in her style/mental illness are your thing. #FuriouslyHappy #JennyLawson

This book was a DELIGHT. There are discussions about culture, body positivity, assimilation, physical health, scare tactics, emotional health, and love all centered around food. I liked this book but I think I hyped it up so much in my mind I did get underwhelmed. Romy is such a well written character, she has the mindset of a teenager with the idiosyncrasies of someone who spent their whole life sheltered in space alone. The ending was a little bit... overdone? But overall I would recommend it for what it is a pretty good YA novel. #TheLoneliestGirlInTheUniverse #LaurenJames

Finished this suspense mystery all in one day, which attests to the mood it created. I enjoyed the ride this story took me on, even the times I was saying “No! Don‘t do that!!” to the main character.
