Meticulously researched and written. Completely exhausted by the structured protection of shitty and horrible men. Exhausted. Read this for my non-fiction reading during 75Hard (although I‘m very much doing 75Soft this time around)

I finished this one up on audio. I started with the physical copy but stalled. Happy I finished it up. I loved She Said so I wanted to see what Farrow had uncovered. Although both stories uncover the long trail of abuse that many suffered under Harvey Weinstein, this one went more in depth. The last part discussed the horrible abuse that women endured from Matt Lauer. It‘s infuriating to realize how much cover up there is within the news & other

ncsufoxes agencies. It‘s frustrating to read about what so many women endured (definitely a triggering book for some as some of the abuse is detailed). Fascinating reporting but sickening to read about. #bookspin #nonfictionbingo 2023 prompt: Goodbye Earl (although Earl was not killed many abusers where brought to light & stopped) 13mo

I finished the book but not the Lego, good thing I have another audio book in the queue 🤣🤣 I am thankful RF persisted in his quest for this story, he faced a lot of opposition. I‘m going to be angry for a long while because so many people were complicit in treating women as if they are disposable

I absolutely loved this book. It‘s Farrow‘s account of his efforts to break the news on allegations against Harvey Weinstein that ranged from harassment to rape. What was more considerable than I expected were his employer, NBC‘s, attempts to stop him from covering the story.

Not that I have had time to read physical books lately but when some of your favorite authors have new releases I have no self control. Ronan Farrow‘s book has been on my to buy list & finally remembered to buy it. We just booked a beach house for a week this summer, so these will probably be making a trek to NC in a few months (although I‘m sure I‘ll find other books before then).

Attended a Connecticut Forum discussion at the Bushnell in Hartford last night. A panel of journalists (including Ronan Farrow, Brooke Gladstone and Stephen Hayes) debated on “Misinformation and Finding the Truth: Reckoning with Today‘s Media Landscape.” It was both fascinating and sobering. I was particularly thrilled to see and hear from Ronan Farrow—he‘s fabulous!

I'm a little late reading this, but I'm glad I finally did. This book is a definite page-turner. I was so angry while reading it but that didn't stop me from finishing it in a day.

This is an important read and I'm thankful for the bravery of the women who came forward and the journalists who refused to cover up the story.

An important book and an absolute page- turner. It‘s not just about the horrific crimes Weinstein and his ilk perpetrated, but also how the media conspired to protect their own. The play of power dynamics on the lives of everyday men and women was bone-chilling. Farrow was the perfect person to break this story, and he does not hide in this book.

SamAnne Parts of it read like an espionage novel. 2y

A total page-turner. It's not exactly front-list, so everyone probably thinks they already know this full, bonkers, horrifying story, but they do not. I should caveat this by saying that I enjoy reading investigative works where the investigator is themselves a part of the narrative. Some people do not. But if you do, read this one.

Breaking this story held great importance to our culture. To me, I got just as much information from reading the original story and the promotional interviews for this book, than from reading this book.

Everything reported in this book is so infuriating,it's hard to explain, just heart breaking.Farrow &a lot of reporters did an incredible job of bringing these stories out. They were uncomfortable to listen to but had to be told.He made it point to let the readers know how normal such actions were for the elites and how devastating they were for the women. It almost became hard to continue at time, can't even imagine what the women went through!!

My first pick for the #12BooksOf2020 I read this one way back in January, almost a year ago, but I‘m still thinking about it all these months later...and not just the case, but Ronan‘s personal journey with it, his partner, his co-workers, the letters that he was sent, the cover-up, and so much more. It‘s definitely one I will remember from 2020!

"In the end, the courage of women can't be stamped out. And stories -- the big ones, the true ones -- can be caught by never killed."

Difficult but worthy read. Focus on the cover up(s) that kept men like Weinstein and Lauer in positions of such power, that allowed them to continue unchecked for years. And also on the brave women who repeatedly told their stories, and the people who listened.

TW: rape, sexual assault and harassment, gaslighting

This book makes me so angry. It is full of horrible people doing horrible things, and more horrible people letting it happen and covering it up. But every once in awhile there's a little snippet (usually involving Jonathan) that makes me unexpectedly laugh out loud. It's nice to break the tension.

Suet624 Totally agree. The Jonathan parts really helped. I‘m glad he included them. 4y

Ronan Farrow recounts how he finally managed to publish his reportage on Harvey Weinstein.
This book reveals how sick our system is when a predator can buy off news outlets and politicians. It's a sickening read, it's a book that angers by its content, but it's an important read.

I will never be able to wrap my head around the shit that goes on in Hollywood! This book follows Ronan as he struggles to publish an important article on sexual assault. It's actually crazy how much silence money can buy. The main focus is Harvey Weinstein but he does touch on other big Hollywood names as well.

I read She Said at the beginning of the year and I'd say these two books pair well. It's time these women get their stories told ❤

Wow, an amazing account of the reporting behind especially the Weinstein and Lauer sexual assault and harassment incidents. Complete with spies tailing the reporter‘s boyfriend. To hear the whole story makes my heart ache again for the women who suffered, and makes me so proud of brave journalists, like Farrow and Remnick, who don‘t stop reporting when powerful men threaten them.

Both a thriller and a thorough investigation, this book is a terrifying account of what rich and powerful men can get away with, of a system that rewards their appalling behaviour and mutes indefinitely their victims. Yet for all the exposed Weinsteins and the Lauers of the world, there‘re so many others that continue to ruin lives unchecked. All my respect goes to the brave women that fought hard and to Mr. Farrow for giving them a voice.
