pick22 of 2022. This is a Romeo and Juliet retelling that is told from different POVs. There is political intrigue with magic and zombies. I really enjoyed the plot and the development of the five main characters. I will definitely read the next book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Well, I know what I'M doing on this gorgeous day! (I'm a snow lover, I have been terribly sad at not getting any real snow this winter, so this makes me very happy!) Also, this book, a reimagining of Romeo and Juliet, is REALLY GOOD so far!

bailedI was really looking forward to this book - Romeo and Juliet is one of my all time favourite classics ... but I hated it! I ended up Dnfing - I was bored and literally had no idea as to what was going on for most of the time!
pickI'm loving this book! It's another world-version of Romeo and Juliet, with a clan of women who keep watch for the risen dead and a culture rife with human sacrifice and strict rules of conduct. I'm still in the beginning of this book, but it captured my attention over Way of Kings, so that's really saying something!
so-soThis Romeo & Juliet retelling is quite magical and probably the only book I've read involving zombies. I sadly didn't enjoy this book as much as I did other books by Hodge, but it was entertaining enough, I suppose. #RockinMay #Zombie

pickRomeo and Juliet. With, you know, necromancers, blood sacrifice, unexpected friendship, dark ancient magicks and characters you hope somehow avoid the fates of their namesakes. Expect to want to rip your hair out during the long wait for the next book and to be bemused at actually enjoying Romeo and Juliet.
Curses, blood sacrifices, mind control...I haven't read YA fantasy in a while, but geeeez. This spin-off of Romeo and Juliet is surprisingly dark and intriguing.
pickThis was a surprisingly great retelling of Shakespeare's R&J, filled with twisted magic and the living dead. I loved the change in perspective of the story, the twists to the original, and the growth of the characters that had me loving them unexpectedly. This is one story that will stay with you for some time after you have finished. Happy Book Birthday!
pickA dark and twisty, fantasy retelling of Romeo & Juliet? YES PLEASE! This book is just as good as Rosamund's other 2 fairy tale retellings and the perfect in between a series book because it's a standalone!
