My October #BookSpin & #DoubleSpin books.
The final book in the adventure of the Athena Club and this time Mary Jekyll and the Athena Club are off to save Alice and also Sherlock Holmes too. Both kidnapped and also there is a plot to kill Queen Victoria. I have really loved this whole series, the friendship between all the women was lovely to see. It was exciting and gripping all their different adventures.
Book 3 of 3 in The Extraordinary Adventures of the Athena Club series
I‘m going to miss these characters.
Life‘s always an adventure for the Athena Club . . . especially when one of their own has been kidnapped! After their thrilling European escapades rescuing Lucina van Helsing, Mary Jekyll, and her friends return home to discover that their friend and kitchen maid Alice has vanished — and so has Mary‘s friend and employer Sherlock Holmes!
Third adventure of the Athena Club. This time they have to make their way back to London, Alice and Sherlock Holmes are missing.
I like Goss' writing and hope there will be more adventures.

I didn't like this as much as I liked the first and second book, but even though I will continue the series if more books are published in it.
I am honestly so bummed that this series is only a trilogy. I felt like I could so many more books in this series. That said, it was a pretty solid final book. I definitely preferred the first two. It could have been that I was trying to read this while moving so it was a stop and start read for me, but it didn‘t suck me in like the first two quite as much.
What a satisfying read. I don't know if there will be more (I sure hope so!) but this felt like an ending.
This was my October #bookspin book finished. Trying for the doublespin now! @TheAromaofBooks
This is it, the last book of the Athena club series. Looking back, the first book would have made a good standalone book and the sequels weren't really necessary, but I still enjoyed the finale. Halfway in I thought, I'm tired of ensemble books where the team is kept apart, because I read too many of those in the last months.
I love these characters and the world they inhabit. It is certainly not a fast paced book and I found the climax rather rushed (and no spoilers...but I think Diana would have some EMOTIONS about what happened). Despite this, I am sad to bid farewell the Athena Club...although there is definitely material here for another book.
Welp, our state is shut down and we are kinda self quaranting due to chest colds...no, we don't have THE thing....but I'm not complaining...
This one is long and detail filled and probably could be edited a little bit but I'm already truly sad that it's the last book with these charming and lovable characters.

This series is one of my favourites. I love that each of the #eccentricMC are strong women, who have each been affected by well known male characters, such as Dr Jeckel, Mr Hyde, Dr Frankstein, and Dracula. It's funny and engaging. Unfortunately, this third instalment wasn't as good as the previous two, but I love them nonetheless.

There were so many ways that the Athena Club trilogy could have disappointed me because it brings together all of my favorite things. Happily, after finishing the third and final book last night, I can say that she did a FANTASTIC job! This series is in hardcover on my bookshelf and will stay there, nestled between the sources of its inspiration.
This same God presides over Seattle in the winter. I feel like everything is about to dissolve from damp!
1-7-20: My 1st finished book of 2020! I‘m getting a slow start this year. This is Book 3 and is supposed to be the final one but I hope the author changes her mind and writes more. 🤞🏼#thesinistermysteryofthemesmerizinggirl #theodoragoss 👍🏼📖#️⃣1️⃣
Okay, There are good (even great) things about this book and series. But I never, ever want a younger female character that he is teaching, or he‘s employing, to fall for Sherlock Holmes, ever again. It grossed me out in Laurie King‘s books and it grosses me out here. How does this keep happening?
I've really liked this little series of Goss'; it's very lightweight, but with Victorian literary characters as well as historical person woven into the plot. Since this looks like it's the last part, I would have liked to see a few more answers about Mary's background, but oh well.
'"Augustus!" Ayesha said the name with contempt. "of course a man as vain as Octavian would call himself Augustus and declare himself a god!" He detested Egypt, and he destroyed Rome! "'
I am so fucking weak for authors ripping on historical figures through characters that supposedly knew them.
The days between christmas and new year's are called 'mellandagarna', 'the in-between days', in Swedish. I took the week off and limited today's activities to a) the gym and b) the coffee shop.
Oh yeah, morning book gift from Lucas!
I enjoyed this adventurous little romp of a book! I do hope there winds up being a fourth book in this series. Fun to finish up on a blustery day. 🎄📚♥️
This book was disappointing in a few parts for me. I still liked it, it just wasn‘t as amazing as the first one. The re-hashing of the first 2 books got on my nerves. No one is going to start w/ the 3rd book! And the ending fight wasn‘t as good as it could have been, IMO. And there‘s a couple of other small flaws. Overall, I really loved this series, the characters, & the creativity. It did make me finally read Dracula & Jekyll & Hyde.
The intrepid ladies of the Athena Club are keeping me company as I audio clean, and cook.
Haven‘t done a #weeklyforecast but thought I would this week. I‘m still working on library books.
Started the tagged finally today. I started Educated a few weeks ago on audio but decided I‘d rather read it than listen. Will start One Day in December for #BOTMBuddyread. I also want to catch up on some shows this long weekend, so I only need to finish the first 2 this week.
I brought the Starless Sea to read between shifts but look! Somebody returned The Sinister Mystery if the Mesmerizing Girl! #Dangersofworkingatthelibrary #ReaderlyADD
Didn't end up grabbing any new releases today but I got a few I've been wanting desperately and then a gift from a friend
That wonderful feeling when the latest book in your new favorite series comes in the mail early ❤️📖📬
I absolutely loved the first book in this trilogy but everything I found charming about it began to wear thin in book two which needed some heavy editing. Still, I was looking forward to this final book and hoped it would recapture some of the magic of the first.
I was extremely disappointed that the pacing continued to be very awkward and there was little to no character development. I had to skim a good bit just to finish 😔
Won't you look at that! Because I needed more stuff on my to read list. Coming out in October!
