A bit slow-paced but still a marvelously wonderful teenage romance love story. Not your typical fluff romance, it delves into rich, difficult topics and struggles that are faced even today. Delightful read!

Extremely glad for @DGRachel for recommending it to me for #NewYearWhoDis. Looking forward to some of the others!

This is whom I want my girls to emulate. Buck that system if you see something wrong, even if it is an Islamaphobic teacher who thinks he can berate you. Your mom will get expelled with you. Set in #Qatar but this sweet love story could be set anywhere.

Why I loved this teen romance even though I normally despise romance: believable characters. Zayneb takes action in the face of bullshit & injustice. Adam is quiet & considerate. Islamic faith is satisfyingly woven into the narrative in an #ownvoices way. I wept at a stranger‘s kindness, then at the description of MS symptoms, but didn‘t feel like the author toyed with my emotions. I guess “believable” is the key word here. I cared. #Canadian

I was not thrilled that my YA bookclub chose this title, since I am not a fan of romance. I‘d read Ali‘s Saints and Misfits previously and it was okay, but I have little patience these days for books that I am not passionate about. I admit I was pre-hating this book. I decided to just read enough of it to be able to join in the discussion. Then, I got sucked into the story. Wow, was I ever wrong about this book!

Everyone has a different definition of what “doing your best” means. For Mom and Dad, it means not rocking any boats.
For me it means fixing things that are wrong.

An #ownvoices YA with diversity within it. This book shows the experiences of a girl born within the faith and a convert to the religion. At its heart it is still a love story so it does have a fluffy happy ever after. 😄
A general pick but I did get a bit annoyed with Zeynab's storyline. It seem overly complicated at times.

I needed something light to read and this was perfect. A teen romance that also has lots of social commentary on the mistreatment of Muslims in today's world. The characters are charming and the story moves quickly.

I absolutely loved this book. Yes, it‘s YA, but it‘s a super sweet story with a feel good ending, which was exactly what I needed right now. I listened to the audiobook in one day and even stayed up late to finish it. #readingasia2021 #qatar

Man, my last library haul was a bust. So far half of them half been bails. This one seemed to have like backwards character development. Like in the beginning, she got suspended for calling out her racist teacher. Then like halfway through she gets yelled at for wearing a swimsuit the covered her legs. And she was just like “Okay”. Seriously? She went from being totally activist-y to being totally not.

#readaroundtheworld #Qatar Well, I am not a lover of YA. I actually think for the right audience that this story of a young Muslim woman finding a way to channel her anger into effective action and of a young man confronting his vulnerability, would be good reading. Plus it is a love story. Not for me though. However, what I learned about Qatar is that Doha is the capital and that young adults there text each other and go to the mall. Who knew?

A powerful book about living with MS,& Islamophobia. While I will never experience the racial prejudices Zayneb faced for her faith and in wearing hijab, I relate to her in feeling anger in response to the injustices of our society, and how racism is rampant and, most often, accepted as normal. And just as Zayneb learned, it is a daily challenge for me to “not let the hatred through which others see the world distort my own sense of justice.”

June #ReadwithMrBook prompt=book about disability. The MS disease is discussed. YA novel but so meaningful in the topic of discrimination! Zayneb comes from a cultural diverse family as well as Adam but both of them are Muslim. According to the author some events, were her own experiences. Zayneb will speak out. It is a beautiful novel about culture traditions, family-friends relationships, cute romance and justice❤️It has sad parts😢4.3⭐️

Pretty adorable love story. I identified w the hero more than the heroine; he‘s an obedient son and brother, and she‘s a rebellious Gryffindor/Slytherin.

First book of #readathon finished! I enjoyed the writing so much that I requested her debut from the library. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐... I gave it 5 stars because this book deserves it. It's heart breaking yet touching and so very real. And I absolutely LOVED the part about dogs in Islam after seeing so much abuse as an animal rights activist.

i really enjoyed this novel. Well this seems like it is just another The fault in our stars it is not. It is so much more than that. It explores not only racism but Islamaphobia as well. I thought the novel handled not only the mentioned issues really well but also Multiple scolorisis as well. Both of these issues of Islamaphobia and Ms are rarely addressed in novels, especially in the world of Ya books.

Try this book even if you are not into romance.

I really enjoyed this book. It's about a girl who is Muslim trying to just live her life but the struggles she has to face with racism in her every day life. When Zayneb gets suspended from school for a drawing she is sent to stay with her aunt in Qatar. There she meets Adam who is facing his own struggles. I really liked how this book was written and enjoyed the interactions among all the characters.

I didn't expect to love this book as much as I did! This book deals with some hard topics such as MS and Islamophobia. But the author did a beautiful job handling both topics. I was cheering on Adam and Zeynab from the beginning. This book gave me so many feels. Some happy and some sad. I need to check out the authors other book ASAP!!!!
