I don‘t read much Christian fiction anymore but this book sounds like something I‘d enjoy.
What do I love about my hometown? It‘s history on the Underground Railroad.

I don‘t often bail on a book (I almost always make myself push through!), but I just couldn‘t get into this book. I received it as an ARC so was looking forward to reading it. I made it about half way through and just wasn‘t invested in any of the characters, I didn‘t enjoy the Christian aspects thrown in, didn‘t like how slow it seemed or appreciate how the dialogue was written. I don‘t have much time to read with 2 pups at home so had to bail!
I received this as a Library Thing Early Reviewers book....and didn‘t receive it for several months! (I thought it wasn‘t coming) We are finally organizing the rest of our books from the move (in April!) and I came across this one ☝️ Figured I should read it next (with my little pup snuggled up with me of course!)
When I met Valerie, 2 weeks ago, she asked how I would describe this story. I said community. The characters form a community to encourage and walk alongside each other through life and it's struggles.
Tagged book 📖 is the most recent book I've read published by Revell. I've been singing the praises of Litsy for over a year among my Christian Fiction friends. It's amazing to see the growth of that genre here.
Readers are calling this book “heartwarming,“ “engaging,“ and “witty.“ We think this sweet Southern read will captivate Revell readers! #christianfiction
beautiful day for hiking, eating a picnic lunch, & reading!
I don't know how Anna could be disappointed she had just sat down to read Gone with the Wind.
"Bookcases big enough for a library loved the walls."
sounds dreamy to me
I won this ARC in December from Library Thing Early Reviewers...it just arrived today and came out March 5 so it isn‘t really an ARC any more 🤣 But I am still excited to read it!!
Can you tell I'm excited about attending the Fiction Readers Summit in August? You could join me. Find all the details at https://fictionreaderssummit.com/. I'm looking forward to reading Almost Home and meeting Valerie at the author dinner on Thursday evening.
I met Toni at the Fiction Readers Summit last year. She works at Baker Book House where they had customer appreciation today. I was able to buy Almost Home by Valerie Fraser Luesse who will be at this year's FRS in August. Of course I had to have my picture taken with my BFF shirt on next to Of Fire And Lions.
The characters in ALMOST HOME are people you would be blessed to call your friends.
Mystery & romance. Great quotes.
“Old Southern women don't change much. We just rock slower and slower till we don‘t rock anymore.”
“Men can‘t decipher hints and moods, so you gotta put what you‘re feelin‘ in a cast-iron skillet and hit ‘em over the head with it.”

Centered in the fictitious small town of Blackberry Springs, Alabama, I enjoyed the “southerness” of this book. Taking place during WWII, it follows a group of diverse folks who seek employment and/or a place to heal/hide and become like family at Dolly‘s and Si‘s home-turned-boarding house. While there is a mystery from the past tied in, I found the current residents more compelling and heartwarming. A bit overly long. 4/5⭐️

A little late...
1. Just growing up surrounded by extended family (aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents). Now none of them are nearby. 😔
2. 1, older brother
3. I THINK Fall 2016 🤷🏻♀️
4. Tagged
5. I‘m late, but if anyone hasn‘t played, feel free! 😊
Thanks @Eggs !

That feeling you get when you see in print your neck of the woods in your current read...♥️😃👍
An Estranged Young Couple from the Midwest unemployed professors from Chicago, a widower from Mississippi as well as a Young Veteran struggling to heal from the horrors of the war, they all hope that Dolly‘s House will help them find their way back to the lives they left behind them. The house too has a past of its own.
#Bookmail on this rainy, stormy day in Alabama. Won this one from #BookishFirst. And believe it or not, this book is set in Alabama. 🤣🤣 Sounds like a good historical fiction read. Out in 2 weeks!

I spent some time entering these giveaways on Goodreads. I'd be happy with even one of them.
