Finished my first June book (tagged), which was not one of the 40+ books I had planned… so pretty much just as expected 🤣😅 I‘m not too mad about it, since it will work for #WickedWords! 🥧

Jumping straight into Lore which will knock off 4-5 prompts for various reading challenges I‘m doing.

I've been listening to the Hannah Swensen series for a few years now and I've finally realized that it's comforting to me. And the Ross story line is actually really interesting to me over 20 books in! I'm scared to look up how many there are to find out that I only have a few left.

Who's got new cozy mystery series for me? I like knitting, tea and winter if that helps.

#cozymystery #dessert #minnesota

TEArificbooks I love the tea shop series from Laura Childs 3y
emz711 @mdm139 oooo that was already on my tbr, thanks for the rec, sounds good! 3y
tdrosebud Maggie Sefton has a complete knitting cozy series that I really liked. Karen Rose Smith has a tea shop series. I've only read the first of that one but I did enjoy it. I highly recommend the website cozy-mystery.com . You can search by author, profession, hobby, etc. 3y

emz711 @tdrosebud such a cool website! 3y
emz711 @tdrosebud @mdm139 I don't know why I said winter, my favorite season is fall. Any fall cozy mysteries? 3y
TEArificbooks @emz711 I don‘t know if any series that have all the books set in the Fall. There are a few always set at Christmas. But most series that have a few dozen books usually has a few set in Fall/Halloween/Thanksgiving. Also go to cozy-mystery.com they have the list by themes. 3y
TEArificbooks @emz711 I love the Lucy Stone series by Leslie Meier. They are a light and fluffy like a beach read and all her books are set around a holiday so she has bunches of the set in Fall/Halloween. Over 25 in series. 3y

Oops side quest. Needed a book on my kindle to read in the dark and went for (tagged) easy breezy mindless murder mystery.

Blazing through these before July starts lol I decided to read as many #cozymysteries in June as possible because life is just too heavy these days!

GloVerdino Have you watched any of the Hallmark movies based on this series? 4y
BarkingMadRead @GloVerdino I have watched them all! They are a bit different, but really good! 4y

Well, unsurprisingly the series continues to disappoint. (My sister is still up for buddy reading these 🤪😂)

Series must evolve, sure, but the last 6 or so have just gone off the rails. Very little investigating, at least the first 5 chapters are spent talking about a new recipes (a recipe used to be a side benefit of a chapter, not the sole purpose for it), there is little of the chatter and banter that used to carry the scenes ⬇️

mabell ... the cliffhangers from previous books are not explained, but instead a new cliffhanger is plunked at the end so “you have to read the next book!”

Most important, Hannah is not the strong, independent woman she was. All of a sudden all of her self-worth was attached to a man - that‘s NOT Hannah. And that isn‘t a message this series ever allowed! ⬇️
5y
mabell Instead of fun stand-alone mysteries centered around Lake Eden, the series has become a soap opera centered around Hannah. 5y
Librarybelle That‘s a great description of the series! I still read them and enjoy them, but definitely not for the mystery. And, I totally agree about Hannah! 5y
mabell @Librarybelle I‘m sure we will continue on to Coconut Cake Murder - tradition, and good excuse to complain! 😂 Plus, have to find out what happens! Hopefully we‘ll see more of the old Hannah back in the next one. 5y

Just when I think I've grown out of this series, they throw something at you at the end of the book and you know you're going to read the next one lol Actually, what they threw at me at the end of the book was something I'd suspected for a good share of the book however, now that they confirmed my suspicions I know I have to read the next one 😂 Well played, well played 👍

Millesent I have yet to read Joanna Fluke but I have watched all of the chocolate chip cookie baker series on the Hallmark channel starring Hannah Swenson. 5y

This series continues to get sillier and sillier and I so wish I hadn't started it many moons ago. I won't confide any spoilers but I can't imagine why the author decided that Hannah, who was once individualistic and strong has descended into this silly, needy type girl who makes terrible decisions over and over again. The entire Ross scenario was so out of character in the first place. Now it has come full circle in dumbness,

No no no. With 28 books you'd expect something to new to happen but nope. There was a love triangle that lasted about 24 books and then all of a sudden a new guy shows up and steals the show and now it turns out he's not a good guy. Plus the murder in this particular installment doesn't happen until about 80% through the book! And the recipes found at the end of the chapters which used to be a quirky add-on to the story are now the story itself.

rretzler Honestly, I don‘t know why this series is so popular, I‘ve read a few here and there and I didn‘t find anything redeeming about them at all. Don‘t know why I went back for more. 6y

Garbage. The murder didn‘t happen until almost 300 pages in - but was obvious from the first page - and the wrap-up was rushed and totally ridiculous. Hannah‘s an idiot. The writing is horrible now. And that last-sentence “cliffhanger” was also not surprising at all, and if it‘s true, a totally unnecessary and unwanted plot twist. I really think I‘ve hit my limit for tolerating this crap. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This one was better than the last few in the series, but not by a whole lot. The murder didn't occur til 85% into the book, but I'd figured who would die and who the killer was by about 25% into it. I borrowed this one instead of buying it, and I'm glad I did.

I have about 50 pages left to go, and honestly? I think I‘ve finally reached my limit with this shit. The writing is horrible, the plots are even more contrived, and THE RECIPES DON‘T EVEN HAVE CLEVER NAMES ANYMORE, BUT THE CHARACTERS ARE ALL ACTING LIKE THEY‘RE THE MOST CREATIVE THINGS THEY‘VE EVER HEARD. “Oh, I think I‘ll make a white chocolate cookie that‘s chewy and crunchy, and I‘ll call them...Crunchy Chewy White Chocolate Cookies!” 🙄

Tamra 😆 Good one. You made me snort. 6y

I haven‘t even been able to bring myself to hate-post about this one, because my irritation started ON THE FIRST PAGE. This series has honestly gotten worse beyond belief with each one of the last six or so books; I have a really hard time believing Jo Fluke is still writing them herself, because the quality of the writing has PLUMMETED. I‘m can‘t decide if I‘m more annoyed by how bad this is, or with myself for continuing to read them. 😑

Well. I'm not sad that Ross gets an earful from Hannah. Not much surprised me about this book except that with everything going on with Hannah her sister Andrea & Bill are no shows in the book. Now I just have to wait to see how this latest cliffhanger plays out

This is from an old family cookbook that‘s since lost its cover and quite a few pages. I‘ve saved as much of it as I can, including this super delicious recipe!

Fluke has managed to craft a cliffhanger with her last few books. This one, the 24th in the series, opens after a massive cliffhanger from the 23rd book. Not much mystery, but the atmosphere is much darker and less cozy than any of the prior books. There was one reveal that I guessed early on from various hints, but I applaud Fluke‘s way to keep the series fresh. I liked this one because it was so different. Read it in a day!

catebutler These sound so fun! I‘ll have to check out the first in the series. 6y

Although the title promises a murder, there is not death until the 80% mark in the book. This series is comforting to me. I like revisiting the characters, and the plots are generally fun. I felt that this was not the strongest mystery of the series, but it did provide closure to the Hannah/Ross plot line, and I know that was important to the fans. Also, I felt Norman was especially charming in this one.

Flaneurette How does your kindle have a color picture? 6y
Dolly If it held multiple descriptions of chocolate cream pie it would be worth it. 6y
