I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 95

Loved the cover and then really liked this story of Finn who is always on the run only to make a deal to steal a magic cape from the palace. She ends up in an adventure with the future king to be who uses the coolest magic doorknob! Loved this world and the “new” magic it‘s kingdom has. Will read the next book. First novel by this author, loved her storytelling style and her use of Spanish undertones/wording.
Fun fantasy read. Had some unique parts, but didn‘t quite capture me the way I expected it would.
A good story overall, interesting characters 3/5
Remember I said I wasn‘t expecting much from this? Yeah, I was right. Ecclesiastes 1:9 says there‘s nothing new under the sun, and...yeah. I don‘t like ppl using “ripoff” re: an author of color vs a white author, but there are def notable similarities to Shades of Magic. Also this was too long, pacing was bad, felt like a story we‘ve seen before. Liked the Latinx setting but it felt forced/thin. Should‘ve DNF‘d but I‘m a stubborn bitch. 2/5 ⭐️
TBH I‘m not expecting much from this one. The reviews on Litsy and Goodreads are pretty low. But it‘s been on my TBR shelves for close to a year, and I have an unwritten rule for myself that I have to read books within one year of buying them. Plus I did a random generator thing and this is what came up, so...........here goes 🤷🏻♀️ #nowreading
Pacing was slow in parts and the prince bothered me. But the world is beautiful and I loved the face thief character.
Look what announced itself in today‘s bookbub email - yes please thank you
I was really excited for this ya, but I really struggled through it. It took me a while to get into it. I liked the magic, but the plot never totally worked for me.
So I REALLY loved the second half of this book. It was a bit of a clunky start for me but I ADORE Finn as a mc. She's such an enjoyable POV! Things really picked up about midway once a clear conflict and solution was lined up along with alliances. The magic system was really cool. I'd love to be able to shape shift! THAT BEING SAID, this book has been written before. Tons of traditional YA elements in here. Characters & setting sets it apart!
I enjoyed Nocturna a lot more than I expected to. Maybe it was the two glasses of wine, but I really enjoyed this Latino YA fantasy. Honestly, it felt like a Disney film from the 90s; fun characters, an action-packed plot, unexpected dark moments, and moments that just hit me in the feels.

Solid start on the #24B4Monday readathon - not as long as I hoped, but I got tempted out for a caña or two!
I'm packing and leaving Spain in two weeks, and I need to get some of my books read before they go back into boxes! The #24B4Monday challenge is exactly the push I need. Happy reading, folks

Ok, I know this one has recieved some...uh...criticism...but overall, I found it enjoyable. Although, tge word 'maldito' could've been used waaay less.
(Not pictures...my husband: 'TAKE THE PICTURE!? IS THIS FOR LITSY?')
I'm getting a serious 'A Darker Shade of Magic' vibe from this which is awesome.
A bad copy of A Darker Shade of Magic... I had to skim a lot, which I'm not happy about because it messed up my bookly statistics. This book was super boring though... 1 🌟.

This is a hard one to rate, because I feel pretty torn... I really enjoyed this book, I loved the writing, and I adored the main characters. But I have a real issue with how similar the story is to V.E. Schwab's Shades of Magic series. It did not impact me too much while I was reading because it wasn't too obvious, at least to me. But now I've read other reviews (some even calling it a blatant rip-off) and I wonder how I didn't see it before. 😟
Well I just started this and I have to say I am pretty damn intrigued. I love the world building so far. I'm loving all these Latinx books coming out.
Starting this one today. Hopefully I can get out of my book hangover.
The cover is sooo beautiful 😍😍

So behind in the FairyLoot readalong this time because the last few days have been crazy busy, but I'm really enjoying this book. And I'm in love with this gorgeous edition!
P.S.: After seeing this print I can't help but picture Alfie Enoch as MC Alfie.
My husband is going to buy me a book for Dog Mom Day. I'm thinking this one. To Barnes and Noble! Maybe I'll get a backrub too!
Ga! *Shriek* Omg it's so good damn pretty in person! My preorder came in real early!
