Sisters who read together...
This book is a chicken book, but I would highly recommend it. It is about a girl who moves to her dead great uncle‘s farm and finds out that chickens with super powers live in the henhouse! And the book is the girls letters to her dead great uncle, and to a chicken selling company to see if they sell magic chicken, it is crazy cool so I would recommend you read it.

“PS Ms. Smith killed her chicks. I‘m sorry.”
This book doesn‘t seem entirely difficult as there are pictures and graphics on nearly every other page. The text is really inviting.
This book seems to be so goofy and really intriguing. As a child, I know that I would be really motivated to read it because of the different layouts. I love that the author uses letters, lists, and even quizzes
This isn‘t a specific quote within the actually book, but I love this part because the author is basically saying I decided to share my story because I feel like it can help other children in their lives too!
I love the layout of this book! The journaling setup really helps the kids read this book in an easier way and makes them become more engaged!
Published in 2015, this fun realistic fiction book shows the journey of a young girl experiencing much change in her life. Children can easily relate to this book in that aspect because life is always changing and a lot of children do not enjoy change so this book can help children navigate through that!
Got off early from a professional day before the long weekend! Reading outside with my little adventurer 🐱
Taking a break from stressful novels for this fun read for my students‘ book club!
This takes place when a girl finds her grandfather‘s old special chickens, and is on her on to take care of them.
A woman (Not saying their names,) comes and tries to steal the chickens often. I‘m not going to spoil so much nor write too much so let‘s keep it there.
A sweet #middlegrade epistolary novel written from the point of view of Sophie, a Mexican-American 12 year old. Sophie's family moves to Great Uncle Jim's farm that they inherited after hitting a rough patch in their lives. Sophie has to figure out how to live the farm life after growing up in LA. She also has to find polite ways to let people know she's not a farm worker, but Uncle Jim's grandniece. And, of course, there are the unusual chickens.
I love when books make references to other books. #middlegrade
Okay, decided on this #middlegrade read. Let's see how it goes.
Being a bookseller is pretty cool. Being a kids' bookseller is awesome. And being a kids' bookseller in a city full of authors & illustrators like Kelly Jones ( #UnusualChickens ) & Liz Wong ( #Quackers ) is amazing! These lovely book heroes stopped by to sign stock, which precipitated a 45-minute conversation on all books ever written. I only left work an hour late... Worth it! #booksellerlife #kidsbooks #knopf #yearling #authorlove #WCCPBA #YRCA
I was in the middle of wrapping some chore reward gifts for my kiddos when the aliens arrived. This is going to be weird. #funfridayphoto 👽🐣
Haven & I are loving this book!
She compares the "unusual" chickens in this book to her hens (her real ones) and was excited to find a hen named Buffy in the book, just like her stuffed animal :)
I CANNOT TELL YOU ALL HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS! 🐓❤
I adore the way this book mixes real info about taking care of chickens in with the rest of the story. So fun! It doesn't feel like an informational book and yet I learned some stuff.
I was SO charmed by this story and the illustrations that I've decided to find this in print and read it again. Sometimes #middlegrade epistolary books can be boring, but this was not! I smiled all the way thru😀👏🏻
Good morning, Litsy! ☀️
#currentlyreading #middlegrade this morning ☕
I LOVE the illustrations in this book. 🐓 I need to find a print copy!
Littens! I want to visit Sophie and her unusual chickens in Gravenstein, CA. This is seriously the cutest quirky book I've read in a while. I love the townspeople and hijinks and Quentin Blake-like illustrations and all the awesome facts and tips on chickens and how to raise them. #setinasmalltown #photoadaynov16 #middlegrade
"You told me there are chickens in this book but I can't hear any." - Miles
I just fell in love with this MG book about grouchy, grumpy chickens. If you love chickens, or even just like them a tiny bit, you'll really enjoy this book. Bonus: check out the back cover where the chickens are wearing underwear! I mean, c'mon. How can you resist?!
This book is all kinds of wonderful.
