There are sooooo many books to read that I don‘t tend to read a book more than once (with the exception of when I was in middle and high school). The few exceptions are:
* Harry Potter Series
* Ya Ya Sisterhood
* Judy Bloom YA books now that I‘m an adult
* Little Girl Lost

Do you reread?

I picked this up yesterday for a bingo square. I‘m constantly recommending this book so I thought it would be a great time to pick it up and see if it holds up. I‘m 6 chapters in and loving it just as much as the first time I read it.

FortunateSon I have never read a book twice. Nothing wrong with people who do, it's just that my TBR is far too large to allow for re-reads lol 2y
FortunateSon Born a Crime is an outstanding book, though! 2y
ShananigansReads @FortunateSon if I ever dreamed I‘d actually make it though my TBR I‘d feel that way too. 😂😂😂 2y

ZoeyPeacock I sleep with books... there are at least 6 under the covers at all times. 6y
Melissa_J That is a cute bookmark but I could never do that to my precious books - mine stay pristine 🤣 6y
booksbrewsandbooze I love it and I feel the same way! 6y
InBooksILive @Melissa_J I agree! I could never do harm to my books either haha but I love this quote 6y

I read Fadiman‘s collection of essays (Ex Libris) and loved it. This was a collection where she was the editor. I liked some more than others, but I‘d give it a solid 4 stars out of 5. I hadn‘t read most of the books these essays were written about but I enjoyed each essayist‘s reflection on their experience of reading (and rereading later in life). #readathon

The sun rises earlier on this side of the world so I have cracked open my #2018nonfictionbookexchange presents from @batsy . I am on a work trip but I made sure to pack these so that I could open it today and not Saturday. 😂😂 Thank you @batsy for the interesting selection of books and the bookish gifts! The small notebooks will come in useful on my travels.
Have also started reading the tagged book. 😁

"Seventeen Writers Revisit Books They Love" describes the essay collection edited by Anne Fadiman (author of Ex Libris). None of the essays are by her. Although all are well-written, a few essays were winning; a few left me meh, and some I'm sure I've already forgotten. Not a total wow for me; I'll give this a pick because it's about books and the love of reading. Except for the essay by David Michaelis about the Beatles' Sgt Pepper album ?‍♀️

In this essay collection about the rereading experience, this author moved cross-country based on the fact he found his favorite author in a bookstore there! For real. Ah, the power of books 📚📚📚📚ETA: author of this essay is Michael Upchurch.

readtheworld Anne Fadiman is one of my favorite essayists! 💕 8y
Hollie Love that! 8y
ValerieAndBooks @readtheworld I love her Ex Libris! She's the editor of this collection and I have another set of her essays in my TBR 8y

ValerieAndBooks @Hollie makes me wonder what his fate would have been if he had access back then to books online! 8y
Hollie @ValerieAndBooks it seems like a good enough reason to move for me! Yes, access to books online is life changing! 8y
ValerieAndBooks @readtheworld I ETA to add credit, Michael Upchurch is the author of the essay that I shared the quote from. 8y

#TBRtemptation post 3! Is a book the same book and a reader the same reader during a reread? The 17 essayists in this book say no. These are no conventional literary criticism essays, rather each is a mini-memoir that focuses on the bibliophile's love of books or a particular book. Authors include: Sven Birkets, Allegra Goodman, Vivian Gornick, & Phillip Lopate. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
