I know this is non-fiction, so I wasn't expecting something like Pirates of the Caribbean. However, why is a book about pirates this boring? Plenty of people, places and dates, but not much to hold the readers attention. Picking audio for this was a mistake also, the narrator adds nothing to the story, just a dry reading of the words on the page. Bailing at 40%. #hailthebail

I really enjoyed learning more about pirate activity in the pre-Revolutionary American colonies. It was a combination of accounts of real-life pirates, legends, and what life was like aboard a ship.

As if Netflix knew I was reading a book talking about pirates. 🤣

I finally finished that one. In general, it is a very interesting book with a lot of insights on the life of the pirates at the American coasts. But sometimes it was impossible to read it fluently. I could obly digest one to two chapters at once because there was so much information given.

And today I an going to finish it at my other favourite reading spot - the beach. 🤗

Started to read this one back in October when I travelled to Switzerland. Now I am back to Switzerland for Christmas and will go on - hopefully with a lot of snow... 🤗

Overall, I really liked this book. It simultaneously satisfied my love for history and for adventure. It was, however, a slow read for me. I could only read it in 30-50 page chunks before feeling like I was bogged down with information. I'm not normally a nonfiction girl but this was right up my alley.
This side of American history is really quite fascinating and the book ties in with what is happening in the rest of the world at the time.

I need a break from all the fiction I've been reading recently. A need to "cleanse the palate," as it were. So I'm looking forward to reading this book, because I've always loved stories of pirates and the sea. ?☠
