And back to Julia quinn to end my June book spin bingo picks, as our protagonists are on they‘re way to Portugal 🇵🇹 I probably should have saved this for when I‘m in portugal 🇵🇹 in august ! Oh well #summerreading #bookspinbingo

This might be my favourite of the Bridgerton novels and it's really just one of the prequels. I loved Poppy and Andrew. And the sea. #9-2023
I found this book really frustrating, I really just wanted Andrew to tell Poppy who he was. I was worried the book was going to end badly and was so happy when they got their happily ever after
Ozzie is being a reading speed bump again as he tries to convince Gatsby to leave my lap free for him. In the meantime, I‘m having to hold my book off to the side to see the pages around him.
I loved this one! Part of the prequel series to the Bridgertons, I loved this smart, strong young heroine, her dashing (maybe) pirate hero and the setting on a privateer ship. Refreshing and fun! #20in4 #readathon @Andrew65
Kidnapped by pirates is good!
Honestly, don‘t tell anyone, but I‘m enjoying the Bridgeton spin-off series way more than the originals. Even if she seems to have thrown continuity to the wind. 🤭

I‘ve done a couple of these BookRiot Bridgerton quizzes and I always get Eloise. She is my favorite character in the show.
Find out which Bridgerton sibling you are.

Part of the Rokesby trilogy set in the late 1700s, a prequel to the Bridgerton series. Just as fun as the rest. I like the Rokesby brothers.
I‘m reading these slightly out of order as I read book 1 and then this is book 3 because book 2 wasn‘t available. But these are easy enough to read out of order.

I‘m just starting this. Can only find one island in Somerset which lies in the Bristol Channel & is uninhabited. Not sure why someone from Somerset would be nibbling on English cheese. Cheddar anyone?
I pick up each new Julia Quinn expecting to feel the magic I did when I first read her a decade ago. Instead, she has become increasingly formulaic. I liked Poppy and Andrew, but I wound up skimming through most of their banter. They made great friends, but I wasn't feeling any sexual chemistry. How consent was utilized was excellent, A+ there. The ending was funny, but then the epilogue was so predictable that I nearly threw my Kindle. #romantsy
This was a sweet escapist read. A well-connected English aristocrat always longing for something more ends up captured by a privateer, who is secretly also a well-connected aristocrat with a government sanctioned undercover mission. They end up falling in love on the ship to Portugal and overcome various kidnappings on their way to a happily ever after.
Poppy is an incredible and smart woman who never been out of town and her curiosity got her into trouble that might ruins her reputation. She has been kidnapped by a pirates! But instead of having a terrifying voyage, she‘s been treated kindly by a charming Captain Andrew and his men. Nothing slavery and brutal but alluring, brilliant and witty. Truly delightful and makes you want more of the lovey dovey.

Still a wonderful story. But, I do think that Ms Quinn should stop writing more stories about Bridgertons. She should try writing about other families...
And if possible, don't include any Bridgertons. You do get tired reading about them. As most of the stories will turn out the same...
Quinn delivered on the smart and funny dialogue which Poppy and Andrew were perfect for as they went against each other and the dialogue just pinged ponged back n forth and it made for a fun read.
A solid ⭐⭐⭐ read
Finished this this morning before work. Such a charming story! I hadn‘t realized it was the 3rd in a trilogy so I‘ve since acquired the other 2. I really enjoyed Poppy and Andrew‘s story and cant wait to meet the other Bridgertons and Rokesby‘s. #newyearwhodis
The nice thing about Sunday‘s at work is that I was able to do some studying AND reading for fun. Plus, we didn‘t have a lot of patients today so after the morning fill, it was a pretty calm day.
#TGIF home from work, work pajamas (scrubs) are off and regular pajamas are on. Dinner in the crockpot (roast and potatoes) smells amazing. I do have to work Sunday but my plans otherwise are the tagged book, TA by Jamie Begley and Zero Tolerance by Autumn Jones Lake. Not sure I‘ll get through all three but I‘m going to give it my best shot! @CoverToCoverGirl
This was very cute and there are pirates! A nice quick read and my first book done for #24in48 and #24B4Monday

I moved into my first house! It‘s been incredibly exciting but also a bit stressful at the same time... so I slowed down this week and finally got back to reading a bit! I‘ve been sucked in to this book and had the hardest time putting it down for stuff like work, showering, making food... 😂. I loved it. This was the fluffy happy read I needed.
I really loved this. And it‘s been a long time since I loved a Julia Quinn novel. The way these two fell in love was so perfect. They were both fiercely intelligent and that was never compromised for the sake of the plot.
One of my favorites of the recent Julia Quinns, this is a sparkling story with witty banter on the high seas. How often does a society lady get kidnapped by a gentleman privateer? And then proceed to bicker across the ocean? It's the characters and dialogue that make this so good.
4.5⭐

Currently the newest book in my house both by the release date and that I just brought it home from the library.

I feel like I've read this one before... I enjoy the humor in Julia Quinn's writing. The ending felt a little rushed.
I wavered between pick and so-so, but ended up with pick. I wanted so much to love this book, but this particular series has just not been able to capture my attention. That said, I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would!
This made me think of one of my favorite Buffy episodes. Or maybe I am always just thinking about “Lie to Me”. Who knows.
