⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wolff was a poor white kid in a black neighborhood whose awkward father desperately desired to fit in. When eventually she tested into to a fancy rich kid school, she didn‘t meld there either. Like many, she uses humor as a coping mechanism; both back then and now. This is a much-needed perspective of growing up in poverty, plus she‘s a funny storyteller. However, the writing is unremarkable, and title/cover are a bit cringy. #bookclub

I really liked this book. She wrote it, mostly with a humourous slant, but it was sad to see that her father did not treat her well. His girlfriends varied on how they treated Mishna. She did learn later on that even some of the rich kids, despite their money, had problems, as well. She was born not long after me, so I certainly identified with much of the 80s culture, in general, which is always fun. It was a quick read

I thought I would like this more.

My sister lent this book to me ages ago. I am reorganize my massive TBR pile so I figured it best to check this out from my library via the audiobook route. It‘s great!
