The first book in the wonderful Darkest London series is on sale in ebook form. It's a beautiful mix of steampunk, paranormal, and historical romance.
Borrowed fr Wendy Darling: I would like to have seen a bit more of the supernatural elements as well as character development...I was never really as drawn in by the romance... Still, I *loved* the part when we finally find out the fascinating thing under Lord Archer's mask--if the story had concentrated more on that, which had so much potential, I would have been much more engaged...fingers crossed for the paranormal stuff to take center stage!“
This one has been on my radar for years but the timing was never right. Turns out it was the perfect read for Thanksgiving break. I‘ve read and enjoyed several of Callihan‘s contemporaries, though she can verge on too angsty for me, but I was curious how her style would translate to fantasy. I think I might enjoy her fantasy more! I would characterize this as urban historical fantasy (is that a thing?) and I‘m ready for more. #romantsy
Enjoyed this, but not totally enthralled with it. Involves magical abilities, demon curses and silvery, glowing skin (which made me think of Edward in the “Twilight” series). 🤷🏻♀️ Nice love story, and I especially liked the tough, take-charge heroine...who made me think of Buffy. 🤦🏻♀️ Do plan to continue on with this series. 4/5⭐️
Another book that I‘ve had for awhile...my first by this author. I‘m excited to start working my way through some books that have been patiently waiting for my attention. 😊
Was looking threw books on overdrive and this books cover and description caught my attention. I am so loving my kindle paper white it lets me read more ebooks then I used to. The kindle fire bothered my eyes and now I think I know why it‘s an health issue with my eyes but the paper white is better.
This book is a fantastic mix of historical fiction, paranormal romance, and mystery, with a bit of a Beauty and the Beast initial plot set-up.
Miranda marries a masked stranger as a series of murders shakes London. Is her new husband the murderer? And if not, what secrets is he hiding? And what is Miranda hiding herself?
In solving the mystery, Miranda not only saves herself, but others too.

I was a little lost at times, but for my first paranormal romance this was pretty good. Put the next one on hold at the library.
If you love historical fiction AND supernatural romance books then read the things ^^
Really enjoying this so far, I'm glad I bought the next two books so I can keep the story going
I realllly wanted to love this, having heard such awesome things about the series for years. I do think Callihan is a great writer, particularly when it comes to setting. I liked the romance--nice chemistry. But I felt the paranormal aspect and the overall storytelling was clunky and unbalanced, with too much being dumped in the back half.
Just so good! Great story, the mix of PNR and historical was done beautifully and I loved both Ben and Miranda.
I picked this up at 11:00 last night to read one chapter....it's just so good that I forced myself to put it down at 2 so I could function today 😊
The sexual tension, paranormal mystery, and sexual tension is enough to keep you wanting more. Kristen Callihan has a way with words that I haven't come across in a long time. 👓👓👓👓👓
