3✨ Third book in the series was at least better than the second. There is still crude scenes throughout that I didn‘t like, but following the cowardly Lion and having the development of his back story was a fun element to explore. Story is before, during, and after Dorothy‘s visit to OZ.
Chicks were $1 at our local tractor supply. 😅We got some more turkeys too since we aren‘t having luck with predators and heat. The misters and kiddy pool just aren‘t enough sometimes. 😢
My lion dog‘s helping me read.
And I‘ve gotta say, I‘m stymied. Twelve Years Ago Me loved the hell out of this book. Current Me would‘ve abandoned it 50 pages in if it weren‘t part of a series I‘m keen to finally finish. Last time, Brrr‘s perpetual inability to read the room and position himself appropriately spoke to my soul. This time, I find it... weirdly dull?
Blah. I still super-duper love WICKED and SON OF A WITCH, so this stings.
I was gonna pause and read a library book next, but it turns out I can renew it. Yay! I get to devour MOAR OZ!
Oh, I had a love/hate relationship with this series. The series follow's 'OZ' Wicked Witch of the West, her friends, relatives and enemies. The love part...Maguire created a vivid fantasy world, I mean what an outstanding imagination. The hate part...there were parts that were very hard to get into, there was too much aimless wandering among the characters.
So pretty, but so so boring. I pretty much hated it. I really enjoyed Wicked, so I was expecting to like this one more, but oh well 🤷🏻♀️ What-the-Dickens is on my July #BookSpinBingo list, so hopefully I‘ll enjoy that one more than this one. I ended up bailing with less than 50 pages left, so I‘m still going to count it towards my last #ReadYourSign Leo prompt. 🦁
Last one! But Gregory Maguire really succeeds in having beautiful lines from his characters ❤️
Not much happened in this book, but I can see it setting up for the finale. I enjoyed being back in this world, and didn't have too much trouble hopping back in, even though it's easily probably been 5 years since I read Son of a Witch. The characters in this series are incredibly memorable. I didn't like Brr much, but Yackle is probably one of my favorite characters in the series! I enjoyed her backstory a lot more than Brr's.
#ispy a book with a monster/creature on the cover. Thanks for the tag @Avanders ! Now do you spy a an all purple cover? @nelehelen @cwarnier @Chrissyreadit @JenlovesJT47
I know I said this too many times but hey, I‘m back! 😊👋🏼📚
This focuses mainly on Cowardly Lion, the infamous collaborationist. He sought out Mother Yackle to get some information on Elphaba‘s past and ended up, quite involuntarily, recounting his own.
Like previous books, the pace picked up at the latter 1/3. The end served storyline well & was satisfying enough. However, I was barely engaged & had only a little sympathy for Brrr. 🤷🏽♀️

@JoScho I hope your Monday was a good one 💕
Been cleaning up the book shelves and saw that I had an autographed edition of “A Lion Among Men” by Gregory Maguire. Score!
This has to be the best in the series. It was raw, emotional and just a very sad book. It was also simpler than the first 2. It was more personal than political. I really felt for Brr. In whatever he choses he is always criticized. He always makes the wrong choice. He has a hard time trying to fit in with humans and even with Animals alike. He does not have any family. It was very relatable than the first two.
I have 0 books with hair in the title, and it was surprisingly hard to find some covers featuring hair. All of these are still on the tbr shelf. Of course. 😂

#ORANGEYOUGLAD @Liberty Book with an orange cover! Maybe now I'll actually read this book that's been on my TBR forever!
My attempt at a #rainbowbookstack 😄 getting away with a Wicked edge #riotgrams
Sneaking this in for #bookwithinabook as I think of the Grimmerie spell book, making its travels throughout the series. I was reading the 4th of Wicked, 'Out of Oz' as a library book last summer; running short on time, and I'll sure be looking to resume it again.
Another in Maguire's series retelling of the Oz story. Start with Wicked and work through it in order for best results.
