The Lost Girls: The True Story of the Cleveland Abductions and the Incredible Rescue of Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Gina DeJesus | John Glatt
8 posts | 13 read | 11 to read
New York Times bestselling crime writer John Glatt tells the true story behind the kidnappings and long-overdue rescue of three women found in a Cleveland basement. The Lost Girls tells the truly amazing story of Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight, who were kidnapped, imprisoned, and repeatedly raped and beaten in a Cleveland house for over a decade by Ariel Castro, and their amazing escape in May 2013, which made headlines all over the world. The book has an exclusive interview and photographs of Ariel Castro's secret fianc, who spent many romantic nights in his house of horror, without realizing he had bound and chained captives just a few feet away. There are also revealing interviews with several Castro family members, musician friends and several neighbors who witnessed the dramatic rescue.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This wraps up my deep dive into the Cleveland kidnappings. I‘m honestly looking forward to a different headspace, but once engulfed, I felt an obligation to these phenomenal women. This is the most encompassing account I‘ve read, but their individual experiences are not as detailed as they are in HOPE (Berry & DeJesus) and FINDING ME (Knight); which may be good or bad depending on what your heart and mind can handle.

bio_chem06 The entire story is just heart wrenching. I also hate how Michelle Knight seemed never to be able to get close to Gina or Amanda. It‘s like, she couldn‘t even find solace in someone who shares this terrible experience with her. I don‘t know that I‘m as strong as these women. It‘s empowering to say the least. 4y

britt_brooke @bio_chem06 It‘s all so unfathomable. Michelle seemed so have it the hardest, although they all were treated horrifically. 4y
Cinfhen I‘m happy you gave homage to these women by reading their story/ I don‘t think I have the stomach for it. Now you need to read something LIGHT!!!! 4y
britt_brooke @Cinfhen Isn‘t that the truth?! 4y

I remember hearing about when the girls were found but I had never really payed attention or looked further into the story.
John Glatt does an excellent job telling this harrowing story about these absolutely badass, amazingly strong women.

And a few more!! I actually haven't read the tagged book yet but the other books I've read about this case we're pretty good so I have high hopes ( it always seems horrible to say that).

Football practice and reading- this one is difficult reading due to the subject matter so I'm taking long breaks and watching my boys both practice hard. I sure do love this time of year!
