I've been reading this for months now in-between other books and at times I can't spare more than a few minutes. I'm sorry it's over, but I've got Shirley Jackson's letters to read now.

I'm enjoying this so much. It'll take awhile though. It's the sort of thing I want to save for when I really need it rather than reading it every day.

“I will not be “famous,“ “great.“ I will go on adventuring, changing, opening my mind and my eyes, refusing to be stamped and stereotyped. The thing is to free one's self: to let it find its dimensions, not be impeded.”

Happy International Women's Day! 💖 To celebrate, I wanted to highlight my favorite author; Virginia Woolf, who was one of the most influential 20th Century modernist writers! 😍 She has been such a huge influence in my life! 📚💕

I like reading my own writing. It seems to fit me closer than it did before.

As mentioned, this weekend I‘m participating in a Mini #PersephoneReadathon, hosted by @iamnobird321. I‘ve written a blog post, all about the details, including what I‘ll be reading and also the first photo, in a fun photo challenge, Jessie created for the readathon.

I‘m slowly reading Virginia Woolf‘s diary entries, studying them, and highlighting quotes. I‘ve been suffering from writer‘s burnout, so I‘m hoping that reading her words as a woman and writer will ease my struggle. The highlighted part makes me laugh. I can‘t read my printed work without blushing and wishing to redo it or wanting to hide.

"I want to write a novel about Silence," he said; “the things people don‘t say."-Virginia Woolf
I have been making some excellent online literary purchases recently.
Happy wedding anniversary to Virginia and Leonard Woolf! She wrote in her diary against the idea that marriage grows stale. Instead, Woolf writes: "The truth is more like this--say 4 days out of 7--becomes automatic; but on the 5th day a bead of sensation forms which is all the fuller and more sensitive because of the automatic customary unconscious days on either side. That is to say the year is marked by great moments of intensity." ❤️
SOUND FAMILIAR? "This masterpiece [La Princesse de Clèves] has long been on my conscience. Me to talk of fiction and not to have read this classic! But reading classics is generally hard going."
Rereading Mrs. Dalloway to play along with The Happy Reader book club; it's wonderful and, you know, a bit of a challenge. So I picked up A Writer's Diary to see what it might add (quite a bit) and guess what? It is NOT a challenge. It's addicting. It's literary-genius-flavored potato chips.
Can't wait to sink into a comfy chair and devour the mind of a genius... #virginiawoolf #persephonebooks
