A beautiful account of the love affair between Anais Nin and Henry Miller. Reads like poetry.
#day19 #lyricalapril #umathurman I love Anais Nin's writing.... and this movie adaptation with Uma Thurman as June, was OK but not much like this book! I'm sad that my copy is the Movie poster edition ā¹ļøWhy are they always so bad?!
#riotgram Challenge Day 14 is #kissingbooks . I don't read a ton of romance, and most of the romantic suspense novels I had were in the box that got rained on one of the last times we moved, so I give you two of my favorite books: The Diary of AnaĆÆs Nin volume 1, 1931-1934, and Henry and June, the supposedly 'Unexpurgated Diary', 1931-1932. Each contains things the other does not. Best read together.
Everything with me is either worship and passion or pity and understanding. I hate rarely, though when I hate, I hate murderously. For example now, I hate the bank and everything connected with it. I also hate Dutch paintings, penis-sucking, parties, and cold rainy weather. But I am much more preoccupied with loving.
"Her role in life alone preoccupies her. I knew the reasons: her beauty brings dramas and events to her. Ideas mean little. I saw in her a caricature of the theatrical and dramatic personage. Costume, attitudes, talk. She is a superb actress. No more. I could not grasp her core." (IG: dedalus_photo)
