Bestselling novelist Carl Hiaasen is back with another hysterical mystery adventure for young readers, set in the Florida Keys. You know it's going to be a rough summer when you spend Father's Day visiting your dad in the local lockup. Noah's dad is sure that the owner of the Coral Queen casino boat is flushing raw sewage into the harborwhich has made taking a dip at the local beach like swimming in a toilet. He can't prove it though, and so he decides that sinking the boat will make an effective statement. Right. The boat is pumped out and back in business within days and Noah's dad is stuck in the clink. Now Noah is determined to succeed where his dad failed. He will prove that the Coral Queen is dumping illegally . . . somehow. His allies may not add up to muchhis sister Abbey, an unreformed childhood biter; Lice Peeking, a greedy sot with poor hygiene; Shelly, a bartender and a woman scorned; and a mysterious piratebut Noah's got a plan to flush this crook out into the open. A plan that should sink the crooked little casino, once and for all. From the Hardcover edition.

Lucinda from The Outcasts by Kathleen Kent and Grace from the Accidentals by Minrose Gwin. I think they‘d help each other out.

I like multiple POVs - The Accidentals is 🙃

Finished this one today on my day off thanks to TS Cristobol. A fairly calm rainy day here in New Orleans. Pretty good book, I felt like it could have ended a little sooner, but dragged on a bit at the end to tie up a lot. I guess I‘m happy it finished that way, though. Better than ending wishing there were more. A read from my #bookspin list but a #nospin from this month @TheAromaofBooks

This is a fun YA book. Someone is dumping waste in the harbor. Noah tries to catch them in order to prove his father isn't totally crazy. It's fun.

1. Flush. A middle grade book by a Florida guy. 2. F. Scott Fitzgerald. 3. Ferris Bueller: one of my all time favorites. So clever. 4. Fries! #manicMonday #letterF

Last day of my Floridian vacation ~ had to raid my parents bookshelves to find my next read since The Good Neighbor wasn't cutting it. I found these two...so far I'm enjoying the Hiaasen 😜

My new lineup for #24/48 readathon this weekend. I have never read Hatchet, so I thought this would be a good time. Then I went for a few more YA and I'm hoping to read a few. I also found a big display of the Bookshots by James Patterson. I thought these short mysteries would be perfect quick reads. I also have a few graphic novels on the way. I have never read one before so I thought this will be a good time to try them out.

Jenshootsweddings Looks like a great plan to me! 8y
DivineDiana I want to try one of the Book Shots! 8y

Mdargusch I had never heard of Bookshots @DivineDiana but that kind of book was exactly what I was looking for - short and sweet. I think my husband will like them too. He can't sit and read for hours like I can. 8y
Mdargusch @intothehallofbooks I was hoping someone would tell me it was a great book. I have just never read it. I just read Anne of a Green Gables for the first time and loved it. 8y
Reviewsbylola Hatchet is really good. I think we read it in school . . . 5th grade maybe? 8y
josie281 Hatchet (and all the series) is my oldest son's favorite. 8y

This book for young adults is packed with literary elements, descriptive imagery, phenomenal characters, and fabulous vocabulary. I have read this book as a read aloud to 2 third grade classes and one fifth grade class. Discussions on how humans impact the environment will surely take place.

I really liked the thinking behind the plot but I think I am a higher reading level then the people who this book was aimed at.
