Went to town making cookies this year! Chocolate gingerbread and Finnish cardamom (thanks to @Bookwormjillk !) modified to be GF and dairy-free, sugar & spice, snickerdoodles, and no-bakes modified from my great-grandma's recipes to be GF and dairy-free, and sugar cutouts filled with gluten and butter at a decorating station (not pictured).

I tried two new recipes tonight. A more classic M&M's Chocolate Chip Cookie w/sprinkles, and a not so classic Bananas Foster. I had a banana cake mix so I tried something a bit different.

Not my finest effort, but they‘ll be delicious all the same. I declare Christmas baking done! Now to finish wrapping. We‘re having our dinner with our girls tomorrow night because one of my girls is working Christmas Day. Family gathering with my sisters family on the actual day (small gathering because our folks have Covid). And a blizzard just to make things extra exciting.

Well my holiday plans have had a bit of wrench thrown in them...I hurt my back a few day ago. 😫 I've been resting & trying to get back to normal function. Normally I do the holiday baking & cooking on my own, but my husband has been so wonderful & helping out with everything. Today I'm doing a bit better so we baked cookies together! We made sugar cookies & peanut butter heath. Maybe this will be a new tradition, w/o the injury though of course!

For as long as I can remember my Nanny has done Xmas BIG. Full of traditions and full of family. One that sticks out is the making of the best cookies ever. There's nothing special about them but the memories make them amazing. 30 some-odd years later we still get a tin filled with the exact same cookies made with the exact same cookie cutters. Nanny turned 80 this year so each tin is even more special
