Continuing my personal PD/book studies, I just finished 180 days. I am inspired to use it and attempt to adapt it to my own needs, but how does one condense 180 days into 90? This is definitely going to be a risk taking year. #teacher #professionalreading #newyearnewme

I am in this weird space right now. Part of me is in denial that summer is ending. That part wants to put off planning and stay away from school related things. Then there is the part of me that is getting anxious to plan and has started reading more books about how to transform my teaching next year. One step at a time I guess...

Met and attended an all-day training with the amazing Penny Kittle yesterday. It was SO inspiring and revolutionary to the way we traditionally do things. Her personal anecdotes of various students moved me to tears. Needless to say, I have LOTS of YA reading to do this summer! ❤️❤️ #teachersoflitsy

Following the lead of others. I love to see and learn about the readers I am following. I have always been a huge reader and it just seemed fitting to become an English teacher. I teach sophomores and AP Literature and am known for making quite a few readers of my students. Their favorite part of class is SSR, they love to relax and read. I have two teens and am also a basketball coach.

Kelly Gallagher and Penny Kittle‘s #180days is an inspiration. I have not read a book in a loooong time that made me so ready to teach again, armed with their practical, intentional strategies and philosophies. Brilliant professional text that would inspire any English teacher!

English #teachersoflitsy this is a must read! Reading this felt a bit like they were preaching to the choir but if you are a traditionalist this will feel like a huge paradigm shift. A MUCH needed one! So many good ideas that I will incorporate, spin and make my own. My two favourite educational gurus in one book. Yes!
