Overall Rating 3¾⭐ | Narration 😀 = Good
While this book is not overly mysterious or really all that thrilling; it was still a compulsive listen. It was more like peeking into the world of two women who find their lives entwined with one another‘s whether by chance or circumstance. The mystery was in the unfolding and eventual undoing of their lives.
Love her writing, I finished the book in a few days because she‘s so easy to read and makes you not want to put it down, it‘s isn‘t the best thing I‘ve read all year but I would really recommend for a quick, good read.
Suspense novels are my favorite guilty pleasure reads and this recommendation from @candority was exactly what I was in the mood to devour. If Doc ⬆️ didn‘t keep interrupting, it would have been read in one sitting. I was just sure enough that I knew what secrets the characters were hiding that I had to keep reading to see if I was right. And it was so enjoyable that I have Harding‘s The Party on library hold. #NewYearWhoDis #catsoflitsy
I know that #NewYearWhoDis is supposed to start in the NEW YEAR, but a) I‘m so done with 2018, b) @candority has too many good books on her list for a mere 31 days of reading c) there‘s no wait list for this one at my library and I need a book right this second!
I easily get annoyed with the flawless, perfect, mythical woman get has now become a trope of suspense fiction and wonder why that‘s necessary to tell a story. Despite the “perfect” Kate, I did enjoy this book! Makes for a good audiobook. There are definite twists in this one and real character moments too! I want to read Robyn Harding‘s other books. This would make a good movie!
September Wrap Up! I read 10 books in September (9 physical, 1 ebook).
My favourites this month were Her Pretty Face and Wenjack!
It was ok. Thought I might be more surprised, but after the story twisted a few times & my guesses for who was who were proved wrong, the shrouded pasts of the players became obvious. So for the last 30% it was a waiting game to see if the MC would reveal her new info or if it would all implode. It seemed too easy, and suspense was lost to flat characters after one too many reveals. Also, the stark line between past and present didn't help.
Her Pretty Face was an absolutely fantastic domestic thriller filled with lies and deceit. Just when I thought I had things figured out, something would happen that turned everything upside down. The novel is told from three perspectives: Frances, Daisy & DJ, and part of the suspense of the novel is trying to figure out how these three perspectives are connected. I couldn‘t put this book down (in fact, I read the entire thing in a few hours)!
@guinsgirlreads I see what you did there! Her Pretty Face and a face mask!! 😆 That book has been on the top of TBR for a while. I love all the books and pens and bookmarks and glosses, thank you so much!! @JoeStalksBeck #myfavoritebookswap #herprettyface #mfbs #bookmail #bookswap
An unspeakable shocker of a plot that had me second guessing myself. The story opens w/the 1996 murder of 15yr old Courtney Carey. Fast forward 22yrs, two mothers become fast friends at an elite school where their sons attend. One of them is living under an alias + committed that gruesome crime in 1996. The BIG question of the day.. is she that same person now?!! But wait.. the other mom is hiding a dark secret too! A quick mystery I enjoyed. 4 ☆
Just getting into this one and it seems perfect for poolside reading on a hot summer day. 😎
Brilliant! You think you have it figured out, but you really don‘t, and then you think it again, but you really don‘t! This book plays on the difference between a truly battered woman and a sociopathic woman.. loved it. 👌🏻🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
#HerPrettyFace is a riveting tale of 2 women from #RobynHarding. Frances lacks confidence & friends, & has a troubled son. Kate is beautiful, self-assured, & befriends Frances as her son befriends Frances' boy. Both are hiding dark secrets.
One is not who she says she is.
How far can forgiveness extend, even for the sake of children? ⭐⭐⭐⭐ #NetGalley

Beautiful writing with a well developed thriller. Great characters, enough twists and turns to keep you guessing. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Harding has a great voice in the thriller genre. I look forward to future works from her! [arc from #netgalley; full review coming]
Currently reading this wonderful domestic thriller. Having been a huge fan of The Party, I have high hopes for this!
Happy Saturday!
Started this one today on the train ride back from Verona to Venice, I‘m really enjoying it so far!
"The moment was couched in humor, but that look, where they recognized the darkness in each other, forged a kind of bond. A new level of comfort was borne, an inherent understanding of each other. Kate and Frances didn‘t connect with the other Forrester mothers because they were a different breed. They had found each other, and it felt fated."

I just finished reading this book, and I loved it! I‘m a big fan of true crime, so when one of the characters turned out to be a murderer...(one with a ripped-from-the-headlines case you‘ll definitely recognize if you were old enough in the 1990s), I just knew this was a story I had to read! I highly recommend that you check it out as well if you like books about families, friendships, and interpersonal struggles.
3.5/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟. This is a suspenseful thriller that kept my attention. Two women, each with secret pasts, quickly bond over their disdain for the snobbish school moms at their sons‘ school. One of these women is not who she seems. One has committed an unimaginable murder. The writing contained a lot parentheticals and I thought it was fairly predictable, but two of the main characters were well developed, and I enjoyed it. #jpbookreview
We watched the premiere of #SharpObjects tonight! It was so good 🤓🤗! Now back to reading Her Pretty Face!
So far I am really enjoying the storyline of #HerPrettyFace but I‘m finding the parenthetical phrases to be a bit distracting. Above is one example, but the book is peppered with them. Does anyone else find the overuse of these to be annoying or is it just me? What‘s your bookish pet peeve?

“Camouflage is a game we all like to play, but our secrets are as surely revealed by what we want to seem to be as what we want to conceal.”
Robin Harding‘s novel, “Her Pretty Face” gives us a domestic thriller full of lies, murder and deceit. Check out my full review of this book on #goodreads and then Wordpress.wordpress.com #netgalley
Currently reading: #HerPrettyFace: Frances is a stay-at-home mom whose son, Marcus, is her full-time job. She doesn‘t fit in with the other moms and feels alone until she meets Kate. She is everything Frances is not, but surprisingly Kate doesn‘t act like the other snobby moms. The two instantly bond, but one of these women is not who she seems. One of these women is a murderer 😱 I‘m enjoying this suspenseful #thriller! Pub date: July 10th #ARC

#HerPrettyFace - “Kate is everything Frances is not: pretty, wealthy, and confident. And for some reason, she‘s not interested in being friends with any of the other moms—only Frances. As the two bond over their disdain of snobs and the fierce love they have for their sons, a startling secret threatens to tear them apart. One of these women is not who she seems.. and she‘s a murderer.” #TBR #ARC
I received access to this galley from Simon and Schuster Canada in exchange for an honest review. Her Pretty Face is a domestic drama centred around Frances and Kate. They become fast friends when they band together against the other moms at Forrester Academy. But one has a secret about her past that is hard to keep buried. Published on July 10/18, I gave Her Pretty Face 5 stars on Goodreads (link in profile) #HerPrettyFace #Netgalley
Thanks for the awesome giveaway @mrozzz ! 💕🤗
I love a good unputdownable suspense thriller and I very much look forward to read the tagged book.
‘.. a chilling new domestic drama about two women whose deep friendship is threatened by dark, long-buried secrets... Harding spins a web of lies, deceit, and betrayal‘
#iwinyouwingiveaway
The story is told from multiple POV and it‘s pure genius how it all ties together. Harding's writing is sharp, layered, complex and there‘s just enough plot twists to keep the reader engaged and fully vested in the narrative. She spins a tale of secrets & lies, deceit and examines how well we really know people, especially those we let into our lives. Congratulations, Robyn, on a fabulous book and one day we will have that kitchen dance party.
