Taggert can heal and hurt with just a touch. When an ex calls for help, he risks the wrath of his enigmatic master to try and save her daughter. But when Taggert realizes the daughter has more power than even he can imagine, he has to wrestle with the very nature of his skills, not to mention unmanned and uncreated gods, in order keep the girl safe. In the end, Taggert will have to use more than his power, he has to delve into his heart and soul to survive."The Liminal People" is a fast-paced science fiction thriller with shades of the Matrix or Richard Morgan's Takeshi Kovacs novels don't worry, you haven't read this before: this is something all new.

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join the fun if you want.

Really enjoyed this first novel. Great take on people with powers. The typos in the text drove me slightly batty though - proofreader must have been drunk! Shame because it is really nicely published - lovely smooth paper and spine #tactilepleasures #newauthordiscovery #read2017

Can anyone provide an English translation for the dedication please, thank you #noseyparker

Lcsmcat I can't but I sent a screen shot to a friend who might be able to. Is it Farci? 7y
Balibee146 Thanks @Lcsmcat I'm not sure! 7y
quirkyreader It might be Urdu. 7y
Megabooks It's backwards for Arabic, which is read right to left, so I'm not sure what language it is. 7y

When I saw the #indiepresses prompt, Small Beer Press and this gritty take on superhero fiction is the first thing that came to mind.

Taggert is one of the many powered people living secretly amongst us. He has complete control over his own body and the bodies of those around him, meaning he can increase the bone density in his legs to survive a long fall or make all of the snipers surrounding him void their bladders.

A wild, dark ride.

Balibee146 Looks great.... Just bought a copy :-) 7y

Loved this, different and engaging. Saw the author at Book Riot Live and his talk about how cinematic people found the story made me want to read it despite knowing very little about it. Looking forward to reading the sequel.

My iPod doubles as my #ereader and I always have one ebook on it, so I'm never stuck without a book, but e-audiobooks are why I treasure this device (as well as a public library with a great digital collection.)
I've been reading Liminal People in haphazard segments for the past 3 weeks and am not far along, but there isn't a waiting list so it's set to renew.

TobeyTheScavengerMonk Just starting the sequel! 7y
Lindy @TobeyTheScavengerMonk I‘m glad you like it! I didn‘t end up finishing this, even though I was enjoying it. Ebook is not my favourite format. Keep planning to get back to it someday but so many books.... 7y

Bailedbailed

Just not my cup of tea ☕️🙁 I hate bailing on books and I really thought I'd like this one! Just too much noir for me I think.

LazyLibrary I hate to bail too! But sometimes we gotta do it! 8y
missevievelyn @LazyLibrary it's always nice to hear you're not alone in needing to bail on a book! 8y

FINALLY I finished this week's paper and can concentrate on reading again! 📝I'm feeling like I might have to bail on this one though--I really want to like it, but the main character is pretty unpleasant and I've always struggled with unlikable protagonists. 😆

DGRachel Life's too short to read books that don't speak to you. #bail #noguilt 😁 8y
missevievelyn @DGRachel I like that philosophy! 8y

Interesting sci-fi/fantasy thriller about people who have special abilities, such as the power to start/stop fires with their mind, telekinesis and the ability to tap into someone physiologically and heal/hurt them. Could use a bit more editing and tightening up, but a solid read overall. #BookRiotLive

Doing the #2016ReadHarderChallenge? Here's a great recommendation for "Read the 1st book in a series by an author of color": This is a wild, fast-paced supernatural noir. And Ayize will be at Book Riot Live! Here's the challenge: http://bookriot.com/2015/12/15/2016-book-riot-read-harder-challenge

Chessa I really enjoyed this one! 8y
