Meh. Not bad, but I found the twists pretty obvious and Kora‘s naiveté kind of grating. The adventure was pretty good and character development was, too. I wasn‘t terribly familiar with the Midas myth, so that was a nice angle. My biggest peeve is below, so don‘t read if you want to avoid spoilers. #52Books23 #authorwithyourname (though I haven‘t willingly gone by Annie since I was 8 and wanted to punch everyone who sang “Tomorrow” at me) #roll100

Walked around the bookcases and wrote down all the titles I have hanging around, plus started on a few of the ebooks I have amassed.

A retelling of the King Midas myth, this was a quick and easy read about King Midas's daughter. While not my favorite sailing read of the year, it was enjoyable and I look forward to book 2.

I really enjoyed this retelling of the story of Midas from the perspective of his daughter. I really didn‘t know any detail of the Midas curse. My favorite character of the captain. He had an iron clad moral compass.

4/5 for this retelling! I loved this retelling of King Midas! There were also pirates so that was a plus for me! Kora is a great character! The romance twist was awesome! I cannot wait to read the next one. I would definitely read more by this author!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This book, wow oh wow was it everything a reader could want in a book! It had adventure, romance, friendship, plot twists! I cannot wait to order the second book to this series. I know I will be thinking about this book for days to come, it really taught me to believe in myself above all else.

I've always been intrigued by the story of King Midas & his golden touch, so I had fun reading this spin on that old tale. Kora is the daughter of King Midas who had been turned to gold by her father as a child. Even though they were able to turn her back, there's rumors of lasting effects, scaring most people away. When her father is in danger, she must travel on the high seas with sailors, fighting pirates, & other dangerous adventures

Finished my 2nd #bookspin book. A really intriguing premise, but a lot of telling rather than showing, and about 2/3rd‘s through, the MC makes some unrealistic choices and after that I struggled to connect with her. A ya retelling of the king Midas story. A princess is effected by her father‘s choice and has to go on an adventure to save the throne and her kingdom. A little predictable, but fun.

What fun! King Midas‘s daughter sets off on a shipboard adventure to recover stolen gold, and I loved it.

I seriously love this book so much. I'm so excited for the sequel. Fun quick fantasy with some adventure and romance along with a main female character who grows and learns A LOT over the course of a pretty short book.

Time for a reread!

Fast, fun read with an interesting twist on the King Midas myth. Really would've wished it longer, the relationships felt rushed and I'm not a fan at all of instalove. At times, especially at the beginning, it felt very much like a self-immersion fic, which 🤢

Kora is the daughter of King Midas and got turned to gold along with everything else he touched. He tries to reverse the spell, and it works....briefly, and with some after effects for both of them. Enjoyable and imaginative adventure. Hettie, Aris, and Royce help Kora grow and find her way, even if not in the ways she expected. The ending was good, but also makes you wonder if there‘s a sequel. If so, I‘ll definitely check it out.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 The minute I read the summary of this book I was hooked and it did not disappoint. My only complaint about the book is that it is over and I‘m still looking for more!! I really enjoyed the characters, as well as the different plot twists. Really hoping this book has a sequel. 🙏🏻

OH!MY!GOD!I!LOVED!THIS!BOOK!

The characters were all really cool! There was a lot more pirates and sailing than I was anticipating (which was a big wonderful surprise plus) and the betrayals! OMG poor Kora! Girl is gonna have some trust issues going forward! Especially for a stand alone, I'm really impressed with the world development, programs, amount of questing, plot twists and character development.

Thank you @CandycaneBelle for sharing your post earlier about this book! It was timely. I was talking about the Midas touch with my family 3 days ago and was looking for a story like that. Saw your post, headed to the bookstore and got this book. Will read this as soon as I finish my Aug TBR books 😊

Today I got one of the most exciting emails from #NetGalley. It said that my request to read A Touch of Gold had been approved by the publisher. While I know the book is available in 3 days I have been DYING to read this book ever since I read the summary! Despite hosting 2 birthday parties for my boys this weekend I plan on getting this book finished. **I tried sharing my excitement with my husband earlier and all I got from him was “meh”** 😒
