so-soMeh. I can‘t remember why I was excited about this but it‘s been on the shelf since 2018. It was fine but it just feels Pollyanna-ish given the current state of American politics (especially that epilogue…)

pickThis was a fun read. It follows a group of friends whose significant others are all on the campaign trail for various candidates. Our "widows" are all peripherally involved in politics as well so this felt a little like a look behind the scenes. Mostly it's about friendship and there's a strong thread of girl power running through it as well. It was a little predictable- Cady's plot points were obvious from a mile away- but very entertaining.
One look at that endless spiral staircase and Cady knew this just wasn't going to work in heels.

A fun, clever, twisty-in-a-light-way novel about a presidential election seen from the POVs of the SOs surrounding key figures in the campaign. My only complaint: There is one female candidate in the election. Having her husband as a POV character would've been really great. But this was very enjoyable. I'll read more from this author.

This was an airport bookstore impulse buy back in June. Trying to get into it!
pickWasn‘t sure when I started this. Seemed like too many characters to follow. And it sort of was too many. But I was still interested and mostly enjoyed it. Having lived in DC for 10 fun years and sitting in a remote Western AU town now, I enjoyed visiting the city through a book. A bit homesick now!

so-soI think I just had my hopes set too high for this book. The characters and the plot fell flat. There were a few romantic moments that were good. I think the reason I finished this was to see who won.
so-soJust finished up Campaign Widows by Aimee Agresti. Cute premise, but I felt the story was a bit predictable. It‘s fun a read in a rom-com West Wing vibe. For what it‘s worth, I definitely prefer the ARC cover over the final cover.
Waiting for my mom's flight to arrive. She's visiting for my daughter's Sweet 16 tomorrow. So, what to do at the airport while I wait? Visit the bookshop, of course.

pick“SATC meets The West Wing” said the blurb. I‘m not sure the dialogue is as whip-smart as Aaron Sorkin‘s but I definitely had a similarly huge amount of affection for all of the book‘s characters as I did with these 2 shows. This is more accurately “SATC in DC” with sassy, smart and endearing characters, true friendships and lots of fluff, set against a back drop of an all too familiar crazy election cycle. A proper feel good romantic comedy.👍💕
Finally starting this #ARC with the company of my two sleepy boys 🐶🐶💤 .... “Sex and the City meets The West Wing” ... bring it on! 👍
