I enjoyed this short story collection by Jennifer Egan, set in different places, Bora Bora, Africa, US, China and other places.

I just remember my paternal grandmother giving me this exact sterling silver ring of a panther with #Emerald eyes

11 masterful stories deal with loneliness, longing, regret and desire. Egan‘s characters, models and housewives, bankers and schoolgirls, are united by their search for something outside their own realm of experience. They set out from locations as exotic as China and Bora Bora, as cosmopolitan as downtown Manhattan, or as familiar as suburban Illinois to seek their own transformations.
My son and I had an amazing time at #ECCC2019 #Seattle this wknd:
Books bought and signed, panels, the #StarWars experience, LEGO, Bakugan, @penguinrandomhouse book club, shopping, and tired feet. We really needed this for our mental health and time away from reality! Until next year!
*I also hit the yearly public library sale this weekend...it was like a huge treasure hunt.
Indie bookstore day! At least in Seattle it's on April 29th. Support your locals! #getindie #indiebookstoreday #thirdplacebooks #seattlebookstores
Unsurprisingly well crafted stories about people looking for answers, for something new, or for themselves. I really liked A Visit from the Goon Squad, and there are threads of common preoccupations between this collection and the novel: perception v. reality, the slipperiness of identity.
