Sat in pub on a wet Bank Holiday waiting for my wife to come over from hair appt + finishing off 10th Ruth Galloway. Another enjoyable story finds Ruth travelling to Italy to look at some bones that an old flame has dug up. As ever Ruth gets dragged into a mystery while her personal life as well that ofvthose around her gets ever more complicated.

Next book in #EasterOMC. Read on Libby (thank the gods for that app!). Ruth, Kate and friends are in Italy, part vacation, part work and, truth to be told, part escape from complications with Nelson. A priest is murdered, and a (minor) earthquake brings Nelson running to join them. His wife, Michelle is pregnant, and in the throes of her own complications. A surprising death at the end.

4/5. Love this series, love Ruth Galloway. Elly Griffiths has been trying some very unusual plot twists to end the last couple of books. Really interested in seeing where she takes us next … good mysteries!

In which Ruth takes a holiday to Italy and finds more than she bargained for. While there, an earthquake has Nelson flying to her and Kate‘s “rescue”. Ostensibly there for a dig, she becomes involved in helping to solve a murder, of course. Also, could this be the end of any relationship between her and Nelson? Only the next installment in this series will provide answers. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the tenth book of the Ruth Galloway series. Unlike the other books, the setting is Italy when Ruth goes there at the request of an old acquaintance Dr. Angelo Morelli. She is to lend her expertise on a set of bones. It seems with Ruth things are never as they seem and she is quickly embroiled in a murder investigation.

Loved this one and I was blown away by the ending. I didn't see that one coming. I am so connected to the characters...

Another good mystery for Ruth and the gang. This time set in Italy jumping back to England at times. I liked the change of scenery and it was described so well. The plot itself was interesting with the drama outside of the murder stealing focus a little. The ending was good with that hint of what's going to happen next. #ImpulseRead #WinterGames #TeamElectricSex

This story was somewhat different from the previous. Ruth travels to Italy as a consultant in a dig. Of course there is a murder whole she's there, and Nelson also shows up. The ending packs quite a punch.

This was a re-Read for me as a Group Read on LibraryThing.

This was a really enjoyable book, even if it took Ruth away from home & her comfort zone. Strong connections in this one to the second World War & the resistance movement in Italy. For the main characters in this one some key events took place, that mean things may never be the same again. Quite a shock towards the end of the book. Actually worked out the past and current events in this one, & who the murderer was. Looking forward to the next one.

This is a wonderful series!

Now that things are pretty much back to normal, I‘ve taken some me time and finished this. A bit different from the other books in the series, but equally as good. Set both in Italy and England, it felt as if the mystery was less important than the relationship drama. If you haven‘t read anything else in this series, it‘s not for you. But Ruth is one of my favorite characters, and I enjoyed it.

Reading this, but having trouble concentrating. @Ambrosnazzy is at the hospital emergency room with another kidney stone. Hubby is with her and keeping me updated while I babysit her son. Not the way I expected to spend the evening, for sure.

What do you do when your plan is to go out for lunch after hubby‘s doctor appointment, but he is finished earlier than expected? Go to the library! I came home with #10 in my favorite series. I think there‘s one after this that isn‘t available in the US yet. If so, maybe I can use it to justify another trip to England 😂

2. Masterpiece on PBS (kind of a cheat bc this is multiple shows repackaged for the US, but it's true)
3. Yes! I love big sports events. Loving the World Cup right now.
4. Unsure, but we'll see! I don't plan ahead.
5. My daddy was a newspaper editor, so he mostly read newspapers. (Father's Day is hard. I miss him!)

I enjoy Griffiths's dry wit, descriptions, Britspeak, and her heroine Ruth, whose career is identifying bones.

Love this series. Dark Angel is my favorite so far. The characters and relationships drive this series. Have to start with first book, The Crossing Places. This is the 10th book in this series. And, if you are not already invested, this is not for you. The mystery at the heart of this book was thinly veiled and the focus of the plot was in advancing the story line that runs through the books. #netgalley

I‘ve loved Griffiths‘ Ruth Galloway series from the first, & was eagerly anticipating this next entry in the series. “Was” is the keyword in that last sentence. Griffiths has gone from writing top-notch mysteries focusing primarily on Ruth‘s role as a forensic anthropologist to writing sappy relationship novels that focus on Ruth as the “other woman” in a love triangle, successfully reducing her to a cliche. Disappointing.

Another great installment of a fun mystery series. This one takes Ruth to Italy, but trouble (personal and mystery) still follows. The personal storylines that continue through the books take more turns too. I do wish there were fewer negative descriptions of Ruth. We get it, she's not small. There's one passage where Nelson's older daughter is thinking to herself and comparing Ruth to her mother. It just seemed a little mean.

I feel before I start this review, I should admit, that I am a huge Elly Griffiths fan. Although, I promise this will not be a fan review. I am often harder on my favourite authors than any1. This book is set in Italy which is a change from the normal location of Norfolk. The author has cleverly designed the story so many of the familiar characters are in the book. It is for these characters I keep reading the series.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good entry. So-so mystery but I love the characters.

Like all the Ruth Galloway books, it pulled me right in and kept me there until I finished it. When I did, I found myself being extra grumpy and somewhat anxious. I finally realized that I was irritated that I had finished the book so quickly and the ending made me sad. I love a book that sinks so deep into your head that you‘re not even aware of your reactions to it until you sit down and think about it. Another great novel from Elly Griffiths!

So happy to be back in Ruth‘s world! And with some M&Ms!
