So I‘ve never been much interested in graphic novels. I tried in my early 20s goth years b/c I wanted to be cool, LOL. But they just didn‘t appeal to me. But over the past few years, GNs have really taken off on Booktube, Litsy, etc, and I wanna give them another go. I did read Persepolis last year & enjoyed. But am looking for fiction recs now, strongly prefer ones by/about POC &/or queer folks. No horror or creepy shit. Suggestions, please, thx!
PHONOGRAM by Giller & McKelvie - about music and the magic of engagement. I love THE WICKED + THE DIVINE, a very queer series by the same creators, a bit more, but I‘m pretty sure it‘s creepy. Their YOUNG AVENGERS is also very queer and probably not creepy? 5y
ORANGE by Ichigo Takano - high stakes slice of life with a time travel component. TW for suicide.
STRANGERS IN PARADISE by Terry Moore - lots and lots of emotions. Also, girls in love. 5y
GIANT DAYS by John Allison et al - slice of life at university. 1/3 queer.
THE TEA DRAGON SOCIETY by Katie O‘Neill - sweet all-ages fantasy about kids whose queer mentors help them bond with little dragons. 5y
