So, I went back to read the 1st book in this series. I really enjoy them so far, especially the characters. An obnoxious American is found dead with a scone shoved into his mouth at Gemma‘s tea shop. Murders are bad for business and Gemma thinks the police are too slow, especially her ex. She decides to do the job herself.

This one was way better than the Bewitched by Chocolate series. On to the second book!

As I stopped reading the "Bewitched by chocolate", I'm now trying another series by the same author.
Does anyone have any recommendations for cozy mysteries, I'm new to the genre.
#cozymystery

TheAromaofBooks I love the Brother Cadfael series and also Amelia Peabody. They're both historical cozies so not everyone's cup of tea, but so well-researched and written that I love reading them. I recommend reading both series in order (especially Cadfael) as the characters do develop and build over the course of the books. 4y
Deifio @TheAromaofBooks Thanks 😍 I like historical books if they're well researched. I'll check them out! 4y
TheAromaofBooks The Brother Cadfael books are SO good, just really thoughtful stories with great mysteries and I want Cadfael himself to be my next-door neighbor haha Amelia Peabody are different in tone, they're actually quite funny. Sometimes they get a little heavy-handed on Amelia's husband's “religion is for stupid people“ theme, but are overall such good fun that I overlook it lol Both series the first book wasn't necessarily going to start a series, ⬇ 4y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) so the ball really gets rolling in the second books. 4y
Deifio @TheAromaofBooks Cool! I also found out that the Brother Cadfael are in Kindle Unlimited! It's my trial month so that's awesome 4y

I really enjoyed reading cozy mysteries for #CozyintheSun in July. These were just the kind of books I needed right now! I had read a few of the Jenn McKinlay Library Lovers series, but the rest of these were all new to me. I‘ll definitely be reading more of them all! Thanks @Librarybelle and @ferskner for hosting and giving me an excuse to read these fun stories.

Librarybelle Yay! Thank you for participating! 4y

Another new to me series and author for #CozyintheSun I enjoyed this one and will definitely read more of the series, which is on kindle unlimited. The mystery was good with several red herrings, a great setting in a Oxford, interesting secondary characters, some potential for romance as the story goes on, and a quirky cat!

MallenNC I forgot to tag @Librarybelle and @ferskner 4y
Librarybelle Definitely sounds like a good one! 4y

In the living room reading this fun cozy mystery. The elegant sounds of Bach‘s Brandenburg Concerto coming from the left while the husband snores to the right. Sunday evening done right! ☺️

This was a fun listen. British tea room, murder by scone, missing cat, smoking hot chemistry. What‘s not to love? The heroine has a way of finding the good details. Her mother is obnoxious though!! #readwomen #cozymystery

After getting over my disappointment of tge main character not being Chinese-American I continued the series. It is fun to read about the tea room flourishing, despite all the dead bodies that pile up there.

Let me just say this: READ THIS BOOK. If you love cozy mysteries like I do, you will definitely love this one! Gemma Rose, our quirky and very comical amateur sleuth,is damn amazing. Her best friends are adorkable, and the mystery keeps you enthralled to the very end, I was stunned with who it was! There is a perfect amount of tension to comedy in this cozy! Check it out! 4.5/5 stars! #ilovecozies

minkyb With scone in the title, how can I resist? 8y
wordslinger42 I definitely want to give this one a try! Have you ever read Joanna Fluke? I've just started her books and love them already! The fact that she puts yummy dessert recipes in each book doesn't hurt either 😄 8y
MeikyuuAgeha @wordslinger42 I have a couple of her books! However I kinda stopped after the book started to become inconsistent with character personalities :( 8y
wordslinger42 @eguanio88 Oh ok! I've only read the first one, so I'm not that far into the series haha 8y

🌟🌟🌟
I really liked Gemma and Cassie. Gemma's relationship with her mother felt very real to me. I would have given this story a higher rating if the ending hadn't been problematic for me.
I will likely give the next book in the series a chance.

I've been so depressed since watching The Walking Dead on Sunday, I needed something light and fluffy, and this sounded cute, and right in time for Halloween! 🎃

I enjoyed this book. Being an English Lit major-turned-food industry person myself, I related to the main character. The ending was mildly #problematic though. I'm hoping the future books in the series don't follow that trend. Otherwise, this book is cozy AF.
