⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Such a cute and fun detective story filled with Selznick's beautiful illustrations. Don't be fooled by the size of the book, this story is definitely meant for early readers.

Read this short kids books this morning for #24in48 while snuggling Calli on the loveseat. Selznick always blows me away with his illustrations and I loved the repetition in this book. Such a cute and fun read. #dogsoflitsy

It looks like a novel from the outside but is mostly beautiful illustrations of a cute baby monkey and a few sentences. Great book for reluctant readers or kids leery of making the jump from picture books to chapter books. My daughters giggled throughout the book.

Short, sweet and visually super engaging. I love Baby Monkey. I love Baby Monkey‘s pants even more.

LOVED! And those pants...Baby Monkey had quite the experience trying to get them on 🤣 Selznick & Serlin had me giggling the entire time!

This book is adorable! #4yearold picked it out because he wanted a chapter book like big brother. It not only delighted him, it also enthralled my #7yearold strong reader son and 7 year old reluctant reader niece. This is the tenth time we‘ve read it this weekend. 😍 #raisingreaders #cuteending

This adorably illustrated children‘s book, just out this past March, falls somewhere in between a “pick” and “so-so” for me. I loved the drawings and thought they carried the book, but the final chapter tied the earlier chapters together in a cute way that made a lot more sense than the chapters on their own did. Hence, my dilemma as to how to rate it. 😛

The only issue I have helping with inventorying at the elementary building is that I keep getting distracted by all the cute books!
This one is great if you have a little who wants to read chapter books, but isn‘t quite ready for them. Selznick‘s amazing illustrations and only a simple sentence on each page.

My 4 yo son LOVES this book. It‘s hilarious and outrageous and perfect for early readers! We laughed out loud through most of it.

Several short cases. Cute. The best part is the drawings of his office for each case because it changes based on the case.

Is it a #picturebook, a #graphicnovel, or an early reader? It‘s all three! Baby monkey is cute as a button as he solves funny crimes. In a sweet package the size of a middle grade novel, this has short chapters; very few words; controlled text in extra-large print; and it‘s chock full of appealing pencil artwork that makes it easy to decipher the narrative. Ages 2 to 5.

Illustrations help children figure out the meaning of printed text. Oversized print surrounded by lots of white space helps young children to recognize the shapes of letters and words.

Jeff Smith‘s Little Mouse Gets Ready versus Selznick & Serlin‘s Baby Monkey. Who wins the most adorable animals-getting-dressed award for an emerging readers graphic novel?
It‘s a tie!

My three year old is loving this and asks for it every night at bedtime. I love how the words are large enough for her to see and recognize and the artwork inside is wonderful.
