Blurb:
I would use the book to talk about different ways to show love to other people.
Review:
The author uses color to make the images feel finished and connected. The use of color is also used to convey the feelings of the characters. The illustrations seem to have texture to them which makes them feel more real. Children will see the images and feel like they are right there with the characters.
This book would be great to use as a writing prompt. Students could be asked to write about where they see love. This book can relate to students who may have trouble seeing love from a guardian or people at home but instead in running in the rain or laying in a field with grass and flowers.
Love by Matt De La Pena is a book about seeing love in different ways. The Illustrator Loren Long uses a lot of texture in each scene she designs. It makes you want to run your hand across to feel the pages, it helps to add depth and a contrast of light and dark to signify the different dimensions.
I'm teaching a new course this year called Growth, Goals and Grit 120: Skills for Success. Every student has a passion project. I'm doing it along with them, and have decided to blog about developing my practice as a teacher of writing. #teachersoflitsy https://t.co/LGckkULkGv
Well, Goodreads tells me I read 19,670 pages across 60 books, which was two short of my goal, but I won‘t get time to read tomorrow. I finished the year with When Breath Becomes Air. I may not have met my goal, but I read some amazing books this year. In 2019, I‘m using book riot‘s excel spreadsheet to track my reading, but I‘m not setting a numbered goal. #yearinbooks
This gorgeous book came in the mail today for little nieces. I heard the author speak about his book “The Living” last year and before he wrapped up, he read us this- his first children‘s picture book, which has recently been published. I cried. It‘s so lovely and thoughtfully created. If anyone needs Xmas ideas for little readers, I highly recommend it!
Beautiful and poetic, but definitely felt like it was geared more toward adults than children. The illustrations are gorgeous, but the descriptions of love were too abstract for most of the picture book audience.
I‘ve had a series of non-stop mtgs on top of an evening class - my 1st session on Using Multicultural Picturebooks for Social and Emotional Learning, where I brought this book for read-aloud. My day was gloriously saved when a former student came into the class, fully made-up, apologized for her get-up, and informed me that she needed to leave at 7:15 pm because she just got married and would need to rush to attend her own wedding reception. ⬇️
#AdelesMayMashUp Day 13: #WhenWeWereYoung we immerse ourselves in the world of picturebooks- this is my spread today as I am on duty for our institution‘s PostGraduate Fair at Suntec Convention Centre for those who are interested to take their Masters in Early Childhood and Special Needs Education. This picturebook spread is from my personal collection. Working even on a Sunday and Mother‘s Day at that. :) 🧚🏼♀️💙

Not exactly a love story but a beautiful picture book that celebrates love.
This book is too lovely. If it crosses your path, pick it up, read it, and let it warm your heart. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“And in time you learn to recognize
a love overlooked.
A love that wakes at dawn and
rides to work on the bus.
A slice of burnt toast that tastes like love.”
-Beautiful, rich illustrations to match the beautifully deep words. #poetic #love #reallove #greatbook #picturebook
I read this to my kids last night. It is such a beautiful book. I don‘t always post about picture books we read together, but I feel this one has so many good talking points. Love isn‘t in having big things, it‘s sometimes found in the daily things - even things like looking in the mirror ❤️
This picture book is amazing. It‘s a celebration of all the ways that people are loved and are surrounded by love—even in small subtle ways that aren‘t always acknowledged with words. It‘s a quiet book, whose pictures have tons to look at. I think it would be a great bed time book. I also think it‘s an ideal baby shower gift and because of how it ends would work well as a graduation gift, too.
This book is fantastic — talks about all kinds of ways love is shown. And Litsy people are always finding ways to share bookish love through friendships. This game is just one example I have encountered in my almost two years as a member of this community. Thank you @Mommamanzi We are having lots of fun!
Happy Valentines Day!
Eet eez here. And yes, it is everything readers described it would be. Raw, pulsating, achingly beautiful.
Love; it can be beautiful, fun, comforting, and sometimes scary & hard. I will be buying this one for Valentines Day. The illustrations.......they are Love too. 💜
This book is gorgeous - the text, the pictures, everything - and this mom of a toddler was tearing up by the first few pages. The author recently put out an essay about grappling with heavy issues with young children, and you can see the thought and care that went into these pages. It‘s a beautiful and necessary book and I loved it.
This. Book. Wonderful! The art work is Caldecott worthy and provides so much diversity. The text is so simple but holds so much meaning. I love this book. It gets ALL the stars!
Found this on a display with Valentines books. It‘s lovely.
