Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival
Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival | Sanmu Tang
3 posts | 1 to read
In these charming volumes, Little Mei asks her grandfather about each of the four different celebrations represented. He tells her the stories of Nian and the monster Xi (Chinese New Year); Qu Yuan, a patriotic poet who loved his kingdom (Dragon Boat Festival); the Jade Emperor of Heaven who ordered the earth to be destroyed by fire (Lantern Festival); and Hou Yi who shot down the suns (Mid-Autumn Festival).

Happy Mid Autumn Festival! Today, when the moon is at its fullest and brightest, families gather to appreciate the moon, indulge in moon cakes, and children play paper lanterns to celebrate the Moon Festival. It‘s sort of a Chinese Thanksgiving 😄, a history of over 3,000 years, dating back to moon worship in the ancient Shang Dynasty. Here‘s a well known poem by a poet from the Song Dynasty, have been widely used during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! Today is the Mid-Autumn Festival, a harvest festival celebrated notably by the Chinese people in most East Asian countries. Also called the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, it is celebrated when the moon is believed to be the biggest and fullest. Mooncakes are eaten, paper lanterns are adorned outside houses and families gather to chat under the moonlight. Here‘s Sukey, my sister‘s dog appreciating the lanterns. 😄

erzascarletbookgasm Here are a few children‘s books about the festival. 6y
