This is that thing where you post one of your #TBR pile a day without comment. Except I forgot the official hashtag. So there :P

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description or reason for wanting to read the book. Some are old and some will be new. Don't judge me - I have a lot of books.
Day 222
#tbrmountain #bookbuyingdiet
Continuing the Star Trek novel read. This one was okay. There are dangers in writing about new undeveloped relationships. While I accept that time lines and mirror universes are becoming standard fare for any post TOS time frames some histories aren‘t played with without making an obvious link or reference that one is using an alternate time frame. So there are some confusing character situations in this novel.
Just okay and clearly intended for the invested Star Trek fan which is a bummer because I love the cast of characters from the show. I mean I really, really love what they've done in Discovery's characters and story.
I'll continue with the book series since different author's will have different approaches. Tilly's book better hold up... 'sall I'm saying.
That was quite awful. The colonists were horrible, the Starfleet people were at each other's throats, Saru's like an emo teenager that at one point towers over Burnham aggressively - did the author even watch the show? That the book was written before season two, where the Discovery and Enterprise meet and the whole Burnham & Spock relationship is different than in the book, is not the book's fault but doesn't help it, either.
Only two chapters in, and already the treatment of my favourite Discovery character, Saru, has me gnashing my teeth 😬
Pike: still a doofus I don't like
The colonists: suck, quite badly
The characters I know and love: shockingly, mostly sad???
Honestly, it's all the cut backs to the colonists that drag this book down into a so-so. The rest of it is good (if ultimately kind of a bummer) Trek novel-ness.
Nothing about this book is convincing me that Christopher Pike doesn't suck.
I dunno if you can title drop the next book instead of your own. I dunno!
If I have stayed up this late reading I may as well indulge in another paragraph or two. Plus, I'm having some real Disco feelings tonight and I'm ready to mire myself in some soft canon.

Dec 15- family dynamic
Cheesy sci-fi fan here 😆. Seriously, though, I do find that each crew has its own bond family dynamic.
Waiting to give blood. Never done this before and I'm getting SUPER nervous the longer I wait 😬
Today's #bookandboardgame. New #startrek tonight!
Never before has reading an eBook felt so much like Trek. I'm so hooked.
I interviewed author David Mack! (No spoilers) http://www.unboundworlds.com/2017/09/boldly-go-david-mack-star-trek-discovery-de...
I am so excited to read this tonight.
