Mehso-so

Meh. A few good stories in the bunch but not what I️ was expecting. And I️ have absolutely no clue why Neil Gaiman‘s Narnia/bestiality-porn was included in a collection of JEWISH #shortfiction when Narnia is a specifically Christian allegory. 👀

⭐️⭐️ / 5

Stories I️ actually liked:
Uncle Chaim & Aunt Rivke & the Angel (Peter S. Beagle)
Semaphore (Alex Irvine)
Golems I️ Have Known... (Michael Chabon)
The History Within Us (Matthew Kressel)

Still no closer to bingo, but I‘m pleased to have another book ❌-ed off the #TBRbingo card nonetheless thanks to this weekend‘s #LitsyPartyofOne! 🤘🏻

Jumping into the #LitsyPartyofOne for a little while before we head out to brunch for my mom‘s birthday. Lots of options for what I‘ll be reading this weekend, but I‘m starting with finishing the short story I‘m in the middle of from the tagged #shortfiction collection & enjoying a nice cup of tea. 📖🍵 #goawayimreading #ilovemymomandalsobrunchbuticantwaittocomehomeandkeepreading #somamybookssolittletime

This is exactly why I never leave the house without a book: meeting a friend for brunch and she is running late. I‘d say I‘m surprised but this friend is notorious for her tardiness.... which I usually don‘t mind but I‘m still sick so I‘m cranky. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And the moral? Life and death are ruled by Nature,
Foolishness and faith, by man.
Between the God of Moses and Temptation,
You do the best you can.

Suelizbeth ❤️this book. 7y
lauren.lerner It‘s lovely, @Suelizbeth! I‘ve really been taking my time so I can properly savor each story, though they don‘t all appeal to me equally. 7y
lauren.lerner Do you have a favorite story I should look forward to, @Suelizbeth? 7y

My favorite time of any & every week: weekend #bookandbreakfast. Not sure which of these is going to be my morning read, but I hope to finish Killers of the Flower Moon this weekend even as I'm enjoying taking my time with the #shortfiction of People of the Book. #jewishlit #scifi #fantasy #BOTM #currentlyreading #bunnychairs

Happy weekend, y'all! 🤓😎

LauraBeth I love that chair! 🐰 7y

This is tough because I don't give a lot of ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ reviews, but based on what I know about these books, I suspect they have a decent chance of making the cut.

#fivestarpredictions

Thanks to @emilyhaldi for tagging me! I have no idea who has/hasn't done this prompt yet, so if you're seeing this post & want to participate, consider yourself tagged!

lauren.lerner Full disclosure: I started reading Who Fears Death & had to put it on hold; also am currently reading Killers of the Flower Moon, but had considered it for the #fivestarpredictions prompt before I began reading it. 7y
kendrastephaniekaryn I'm going to go ahead and say you tagged me because I haven't done it yet...haha. 7y
lauren.lerner Yes, I definitely did tag you, @kendrastephaniekaryn!! 😉 7y

Joanne1 I love everything Geraldine Brooks writes, including the one in your stack. 7y
lauren.lerner This is a different People of the Book from Geraldine Brooks', but I'll have to give her a try soon, @Joanne1!! 7y
Joanne1 @lauren.lerner argh, that'll teach me for not looking at the post carefully enough. Hope it's good! 7y
lauren.lerner I just started it today, @joanne1, it's wonderful!! Do you have a favorite Geraldine Brooks you recommend I start with? I've not read any of her work though I think I have my mom's copy of March on my shelves. 7y
Joanne1 @lauren.lerner my all time favourite Geraldine Brooks novel, also the first one I read and one of those books that's seared in my brain is 7y
Joanne1 March is good too. 7y
lauren.lerner Thanks, @joanne1! I will add that to my #tbr and see if my library has it. 7y
