First of all, the artwork in this picture book is gorgeous! That alone makes it a must read by my standards. This is an interesting twist on the Little Red Riding Hood story that had some rather dark and sombre moments. But it's an interesting take on how grief effects people.

This picture book started out as your average, adorable retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. Then it took an incredibly dark turn. And I am here for it. If you don't want to expose your young kids to super dark fairy tales, you might want to save this one until they're a little older.
Overcast outside, candlelight inside + writing in pencil = not easy to photograph.

Lovely story, wonderful pictures. I'm enchanted.
My daughter was looking over my shoulder and asked when she can get this book. When I told her there was no German version yet, she said, she wouldn't mind the English version. So, guess I know what to stuff into her stocking.
This is a beautiful book. The artwork is lush, fluid & whimsical without being twee. I like how she depicts the changing moods, from peace & contentment to danger & menace, through the colouring & shading of the forest landscape. It's a simple retelling of Little Red Riding Hood & it works as a small gem of a fairy tale for adults. I'm not sure if it's for kids. How soon is too soon for them to be aware of just how dangerous adult humans are 😖
A Little Red Riding Hood inspired fairy tale but with a massive twist. Gorgeous illustrations. A bit of a dark turn that I really loved at the end. As a picture book, it's really well done but I suspect it might have disturbed me as a wee bairn.
ARC from NetGalley.
⭐️⭐️ i'm not sure how I feel about this Little Red Riding retelling and its lesson that there are two sides for every story. However, the illustrations are stunning!
The illustrations in this dark, twisty fairy tale retelling were absolutely stunning & my favorite part. I also loved the idea of reimagining LittleRedRidingHood as a young wolf that falls prey to a family of hunters when he strays from the path. But the ending was dark & abrupt. It made the story feel almost unfinished & too hopeless for a children's book imo. Wish it had gone on just a little farther--I think that would've fixed the problem.
Just give one look at that cover and you will get a pretty good idea of what is waiting for you inside. The illustrations of The Little Red Wolf are absolutely gorgeous and will make you happy by just looking at them. The story itself is a mix of typical fairy tale and something a bit more darker and haunting, which is why I don‘t think it‘s suited for the youngest readers. (Most suited for ages 6 and up.)
4,5/5 stars.
I have this a 3.5 stars which put it between a "pick" and "so-so" for me. If you like fairytale retellings then you might enjoy this new graphic novel/picture book that presents a twist on the traditional Little Red Riding Hood tale. I felt it was a super cute concept; though I had a few minor issues with the story. The artwork, on the other hand, was gorgeous and gave a classic feel to this twisted retelling which was great. ??????

#BooksAcrossOceans This comic from The Oatmeal and The Little Red Wolf are both #ComicsWithDogs. (Wolf=Canine, so close enough.😜)
Such a cute little story! I was attracted by the title and the style of the drawings, so tiny and so pure. The fact that the little wolf was "the good one" and the humans were "the bad ones" is a good start to pique your interest in this retelling of the old tale; then the beautiful drawings hook you into it.
Not sure if I'd let little kids around this book but it's a perfect little gift for any adult wanting to rereach their infant self
A retelling of Little Red Riding Hood that is as whimsical as it is tragic.
I loved the illustrations and the new take on an old classic.
