In the context the spiders should be venomous, not poisonous. 🙄 I‘m trying hard to not be too judgmental of this book, because I really want to like it. The characters are pushing my limits though. Please tell me it gets better.

Well, I'm still not going nuts for the series but this was a bit step up from the first book for me. There was much more plot & character development going on here, which was very welcome, and the world-building/background/history that did come up was in much smaller doses, which was also very welcome. I'm intrigued by the story enough to see where it goes and amused by all the "historical figures" that pop up in the series.
I'm a big fan of Jeanne d'Arc! I'm also a big fan of all the magic and mythology. Josh is a bit whining all the time, but after this ending, it might change. For now I chose to trust Flamel and see him as the good guy, although some of this actions are questionable. Overall, I'm excited to see where the story will take us next!
A nice easy read to start the new year, though some aspects of the story were a little bit frustrating.

I must say that I am really enjoying the development of this series. The twins are learning very important lessons, there is many layers to the main secondary characters, and the additional characters that get introduced are also fascinating. It is also neat to encounter historically accurate characters and how they relate to the story. Lastly, even though it is centered on magic, the plot is surprisingly believable. #recentlyread #nospoilers #YA
First afternoon of the season where I get to spend some time reading on my balcony. #booksanddinner #currentlyreading #bookworm #YAmagic 😊😍❤️📖⌚🍷
I love getting to read about Joan of Arc in modern day Paris battling gargoyles and Machiavelli
Super curious to see how this prophecy lays out
✨ HI EVERYONE✨
I‘m sorry I‘ve been so inactive, A Levels took over my life! But I‘m back:)
I really enjoyed these two books as easy reads when you‘re just not in the mood for serious reads (anyone else get those moods?)
When I‘m finally not broke I will buy the rest of these books 📚
Better than the first. I'm having a hard time getting into this series. I'm thinking I'll try again in a few months and see if it clicks better
I'm picking up so many extra little details I missed the first time around, that make me love this book (and this series) even more.
“Desperate men do stupid things...and stupid men make mistakes.”
Getting a few chapters in before I have to leave for work. I forgot how much this series makes me want to forget everything else and just keep going with the story. #michaelscott #themagician #secretsoftheimmortalnicholasflamel #joanofarc #saintgermain #nicholasflamel #twins
Nothing like coco and a good book on a windy, chilly day. #themagician #michaelscott #secretsoftheimmortalnicholasflamel
I can't wait to continue this series. The stories don't really end, they just sort of pause while you grab the next book. I highly recommend having the next book on hand when you finish each book. You're going to want to keep going. #michaelscott #themagician #secretsoftheimmortalnicholasflamel
The #Heroes in the Nicholas Flamel series are a pair of #Siblings. I remember waiting until the first 4 books were published before I bought the first three and got 4 and 5 for my 30th birthday. The weeks after my b-day I was #BingeReading these books. Fortunately my daughter was only a few weeks old and still needed lots of sleep. 😉

"Humans have made astonishing strides in the last few hundred years; they have created wonders."
De Ayala floated around to hover directly in front of her. "And in their rush to create wonders, they have ignored the wonders all around them, ignored the mysteries, the beauty."
I enjoyed this book more than the first book in this series. However, there is much that could be improved... I am looking forward to seeing where the next book leads the characters.
"In their [humans] rush to create wonders, they have ignored the wonders all around them, ignored the mysteries, the beauty. Myths and legends walk unseen amongst them, ignored, unrecognized. It was not always so."
It's a sleepy Saturday. ✨ sitting outside enjoying the nice weather with my book and my pink drink 🍓
Here's the thing. I like this series of books. They are fun exercises in creativity, using mythology to weave a fantastical story. But I don't find them particularly well written. Fun to skim in summer, but don't expect literature.
Sequel to 'The Alchemyst', this book has just as wonderful use of mythology, with impeccable research. An exciting, and thrilling story, that teaches it's reader along the way. A wonderful read.
