Very soft so-so...
While I felt for Lebovitz's bad renovation experience (which from personal experience can happen anywhere), I found myself rolling my eyes a lot at some generalizations, exaggerations, and plain inaccuracies. It should have been better proofread, as I found a lot of mistakes with the words written in French...
If you feel like cooking though, I'm sure that you'll enjoy some of the recipes included in the book.

I at least finished one of the book spins. No bingos but I‘ll take it. The book was ok. A solid 3 ✨. It took me over a year of reading it off and on but I got it done. :)

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! Great progress!!! 4y

Working on my lacey arches stole while listening to the L‘Appart audiobook and wondering if I should wake the kids up. But I guess I can give them a few more days until I have to shift them back to earlier wake time as school starts next Wednesday #audiocrochet

Listening to all that talk about France makes me want a croissant. I haven‘t dared to make croissants myself (all that laminating intimidates me!) so I decided to go for the next thing that I know for sure I make well - scones. I made a batch of plain scones (with a hint of vanilla) and a batch of raisin scones. #audiobaking

Quite enjoying this audiobook by David Lebovitz. I‘ve followed his blog for some years now but this is the first book of his I‘ve read. It‘s a fun listen (although not narrates by Lebovitz himself), as he makes Paris his home, learning all the quirks that the city has as he tries to buy an apartment. So far it‘s charming and rather amusing. Oh and it‘s got recipes!

I adore David Leibovitz but this one dragged. I couldn‘t bail because it was David and Paris but it took a lot.

I think I need to pace myself with this one and maybe make some of the recipes as I go ( or create ersatz ones as I saw one Litten post they were rather challenging) so far I‘m just hungry and want to drink rosé while I read

I started this today to get a break from the intensity of Beartown, but I just can‘t. He‘s awfully whiny & not doing it for me.

Any time spent in Paris, even if it‘s in the pages of books, is magnifique to me. 💗

This was both pleasurable and painful to read: I really like David Lebovitz‘s cookbooks and his blog, and he seems like a really great person, so reading about the difficulties of buying and renovating his home in Paris was fascinating, but difficult because the experience was so horrible. The book comes with recipes, though!

Lebovitz's roller-coaster tale about purchasing and then renovating an apartment in Paris does not inspire me AT ALL to ever buy property in a foreign country. The US is bad enough. It unfortunately also made this a rather repetitive book and the recipes Lebovitz included at the end of almost every chapter didn't always feel connected to the chapter (and complicated, these are not for inexperienced cooks).
